Oh man... I wanted so much for this to turn out okay, and they did fine for making Twilight a spoilerwhatever princess in 9 minutes, thing is though.... you DON'T make a princess in 9 minutes! It was so surreal. The coronation itself deserved a 2 parter and what do they do? Cram 2 episodes worth of story into 22 minutes. No. Didn't work. I wanted it to work but it didn't work, there's leaving them wanting more and then there's ...NNNNGNGHRHRHASF. The anticipation for what's next will be more painful than the episode itself. you just wait, the web's going to get nuts. Brony balls will be blue. They had to try so hard not to piss anybody off they actually had to say EVERYTHING'S FINE. does that sound confident to you? You guys were complaining about the season being too short, I can't help but agree when it ends before the season finale has a chance to get off the ground before making the biggest event the series had to offer. This is it, The big cheese of the show, the defining moment that made the entire journey what it was and built up from 2010 and how do they do it? I'm sorry. I didn't want a reason to be so harsh but ample reasons were given! Everything will be fine? No! I want more time! More answers! Something! So to prevent panic attacks I ask you, firstly thanking you for bearing through this wall of distressed text of a panicking manchild, to reply with whatever content and previews of S4 you can find. If we can't count on the show giving us closure you can do your part to keep our spirits strong. I still have faith in this series. From what I've heard the next season will have 26 episodes. That's VERY encouraging and a good start. That's ample time to tie loose ends and come p with better more unique stories superior to the contrivances of the most rushed season. See where you can go from there.

Absolutely not. They had strict time constraints to work with, I'm sure Hasbro forced their hand and they didn't have a choice but to cram everything into a single episode. Yes, I think it would have been better as a two-parter, but I think as a 22 minute episode it was still very good, especially when you consider the limitations they were working with. It would have been very easy for it to have been complete shit because of those limitations, but in the end it ended up being passable, and that's good enough for me.

I'm easily amused, though. The only episode from season three that I can say I legitimately did not like was Spike At Your Service.

What's weird is that the ascension to princesshood came almost as much out of left field as Cadence and SA did last season.

I guess there was the talk about her "destiny" in TCE, but there wasn't anything to suggest that she was being groomed for monarchy, nor that she even wanted to become a princess (unless you take Meghan's words as canon and she automatically did because she's female).

No, I'm actually so sad right now. The biggest thing is how early this has happened. I was hoping there'd be many more episodes of adventures and Ponyville drama and "lessons" making up the early years of the show. But now that sort of innocent-student-drama part of the show is over.

The show is based on the fact that Twilight came to Ponyville as a young student to study Friendship. Now she's no longer a student, that phase of the show is over. After what is essentially 2 and a half seasons. We now enter the next chapter of this show.

Was the show READY to move on? Was Twilight ready? Was YOU ready? Did it feel like the normal happenings were starting to become stale?

I'm not against change, but this is just too soon. This was a move they should have made in like season 7, and with some build up towards it. Because it feels like we're still padding on fertile ground with plenty of characters (including lesser characters like Cheerilee, etc) still with plenty of room for a bit of development and drama and change in their lives, not to mention Ponyville itself even. But one character achieving her destiny in the show feels totally out of sync with everybody else, and that character being the main character changes the whole mood and feel of the show.

This is the end of the fresh student-life era of the show. I'm miserable.

To be honest, I'm sort of relieved this Twilycorn thing happened.

There aren't many cartoon shows that actively try to move on from the status quo, and this new princess thing opens up a whole bunch of new possibilities for MLP's future.

The episode wasn't amazing, but I'm definitely not worried for the show's future either. I'm kind of excited.

That's definitely a fair view, Anon. There are a lot of reasons I can see someone citing as why the episode is terrible. I really don't believe it was all that good myself, but I don't believe it was bad, either - I just think it was soured potential. I think that's the best way to put how I feel about it. I enjoyed it, and I'll probably enjoy it the next time I watch it, but I'm never going to be able to watch it without thinking about how much it would have benefited if it had just been split into two episodes.

At the end of the day, I'm just glad it didn't come out any worse than it did. I was very skeptical of Twilycorn when it was first confirmed to be part of the show, and not just part of the toy line.
