>>12717059Red Eye would probably have finished turning Filly into the industrial powerhouse he had planned, and the wasteland would be better off.Murky would be dead though.
>>12717161>Murky would be dead though.
>>12717178To be fair, that little punk has, what, months to his name?
>>12717161The wasteland does not need another tyrant, his alicorn plan was also insane
>>12717266Posting a link here as well.
>>12717294>>12717266This is exactly why I made my character into an executioner. Hell, he even goes as far as taking up the nickname "The Executioner".
>>12717350For my character, he tries to judge by context, but end of the day its not about the one he's killing, its about the lives that one death may save, instead of being about what the one being killed deserves, because life's not about what you deserve.
>>12717294>>12717266Reminds me of when Littlepip realized this and killed Autumn Leaf.
>>12717353Personally, I find having the hero play executioner makes it just as much a case of 'are they right or wrong?' as letting everyone go does. You have to do it in the right way, which I hope I do with a second character who only wants the wasteland to get better and believes ponies need a second chance to do that, but the main character sees it as if they did it once, they'll do it again. But this DOES raise the question: is he right? Is there cases where he's going too far and killing those he shouldn't?Would they go on to live a better life if he had spared them for some minor crime?
I'm tired and bored as fuck. Anyone want a doodle from a drawfag?

So, on the 30th, I have an event for a friend's bithday, where we play a modified version of the popular MLP drinking game and our bar serves MLP cocktails for us (more than the picture, that's just all I found quickly googling)My question is..... FOE drink!?Ideas so far (Me, friend and Fuzzy)Littlepip: No idea what yet, as long as it has a cherry.Blackjack: Two types of whiskey and a drop of cranberry juice for colour.Velvet Remedy: whatever the fluttershy is (we changed it because the tonic water was vile), but bitterCalamity: Something bourbon?Glory: The pictured Ranbow Dash, but with added Sambucca?
>>12717717Wait wait, is this the half finished result?I'll just get on the futa for now. Will probably take some time, especially if I fall asleep on my desk.

I'm a little late to the party but I'd just like to point out to >>12717266 that the reason you get batman a dilemma is because you limit the scope to overly simple batman morals. Which are fairly childish and far from touching the more real philosophical thoughts and ideas out there.

>>12717241he's telling the story to the goddess after she turns him into an alicorn.
>>12718401was that really him then, and why'd he give that to /mlp/?
>>12718383shh just come
>>12718459Because he's a silly sexy man who wants the D
>>12718443That wouldn't make sense, since she'd just strip it from his mind. If it were ANY Goddess, there is the way he talked about telling Celestia his story after death... but those were his MOTHER's beliefs, not necessarily his own.>>12718459It was me. It was someone from the Steam chat that posted it, most likely. I'm not bothered about the photos, really, I spent enough time on /cgl/ before I moved here that any paranoia I might have over that is long gone. There was even a troll (Lolicon) on either /v/ or /g/ that attempted to pass himself off as me. Pretty used to it.
>>12718582jessy plswe're ovy here >>12718002
>>12718582You're in the wrong thread.
>>12718557what if it's taking place in an alicorn's head as when the goddess was killed the only voice remaining was one from her past life as a little green pegasus.Maybe that Unity mare is in there too. That would be interesting.
>>12718609Well, I am totally expecting Unity and her partner to end up as one single alicorn at some point. She's done her big bit for him in the dream sequence now and it's all closure to her story that's NEEDED now, as I see it. I don't think murk will reach Unity though. Unicorns only, mang.
>>12718661That was NOT the image I meant to post.
>>12718661thing is that the goddess tells pip red eye hasn't sent any alicorns in over a year so unity has no way to become one. She was one of the ones he was holding on to for after his own ascension .
>>12718713No real guaruntee he doesn't send a couple along to shut her up. They were already sat there, after all. Mostly i expect nobody has been sent because nobody has requested it.That's the thing.... Unity was, at least for the most part, a CHOICE for unicorn slaves. Unicorns would have been valuable, so he wouldn't FORCE them to join.
>>12718777no it's actually a point in the original fic that the goddess no longer trusted red eye and the two were having a major enough falling out to want the other dead. He was no longer sending alicorns but she knew he was still taking ponies for unity. Pip figured out it was because he was keeping them for himself after ascending. So no, he hadn't sent her any.
>>12718609Can't be. They can only turn unicorns into alicorns. This is because all the founding 4 members were unicorns. So Earth Ponies and Pegasi need not apply.
>>12718827That doesn't even make sense. he wasn't sending her UNICORNS, not ALICORNS. They were ascended, as you put it, at the Goddess's end.
>>12718882typo. meant to say unicorns. he wasn't sending any more unicorns to be made to alicorns.
>>12718893>Claims it's a typo>Also said he was keeping them for himself after ascensionYou can admit your actual mistakes, surely?
>>12718928he was keeping the unicorns for himself after unity. he had not sent any to the goddess in over a year. That was why I had been meaning to say. He was keeping unity 'volunteers' for himself for later. but because he never went alicorn and the goddess was killed before him, then his collection was put away somewhere and likely survived. except for the ones chosen for that final scene in case littlepip said no to his offer, they were in a cage.
>>12719113Oh, after HIS ascension. just weird wording then. Never mind, sorryI wonder who would have won, had Pip never left the stable. Red eye wouldn't have had his balefire bomb, yet the Goddess would probably still have hated him. I kind of expect he wouldn't have lasted to bring his plans to fruition. The Goddess would have disposed of him. She wouldn't even have had him for Unity, with similar reasoning to her not wanting Pip.
>>12719206So the Goddess takes over the wasteland, and finishes the IMP

>>12722310>Do you mean my usual DevArt style or the "doodley" kind?...I honestly didn't notice a difference. As I said before I am not an artist. I just think your art style would be pretty cool for some short comics.

>>12723899Are you making her a Bat pone?
>>12724274yup. Blind, uses echolocation via humming/singing in order to see. Gunshot's fuck with it depending on caliber/loudness, it's gonna be challenging to write for.
>>12724350Original Requester here. Glad you're coming up with an interesting character out of my random request. What were you going to do with the broken horn thing though since I didn't exactly mention that.
>>12724533Basically, I think characters should be able to have logical handicaps. A unicorn that couldn't use magic (or only weak TK) seemed like a fun idea (and a good reason to turn into a raider in the first place).on a non circlejerk note, as I have to go to bed, what kind of handicaps do you like seeing in fic characters? Do you make gimped/handicapped players when you play the game?
>>12724746I liked the addiction in the original. I didn't really like the way 'You have cancer' worked in Heroes and PH. Especially since Blackjack got night vision from it. I guess one big thing that doesn't seem to be addressed in the stories is starvation and thirst. You'd think that food wouldn't be abundant, which it still doesn't seem to be since the protagonists shoot down/rescue Emaciated ponies, and yet protagonists always to have enough food to eat whenever and never go to bed hungry. Or never get dehydrated even after they vomit their entire stomach contents, twice. I'd like to see more characters cope with not knowing if they're going to get a meal.As for the PnP all my characters are delusional. So guess they're handicapped mentally.
>>12721497unf, my sides
Wait a minute.Wait a goddamned minute.I just realized that Calbeck is the author of that reeking shit of a fic, New Pegas.

Quick Glimmer thing before bed. Trying new shading thing, but two-tone hair is a bitch to shade, eventually gave up. Somebody correct me as to what color her magic is.
>>12722734The difference would be that my doodley kind is way more sloppy while I can't stand a single error before posting on DeviantArt except if I can't find that error, which always happen Which ends up as quantity or quality.>>12723447I were sleeping at that point but hey, might have been fun. You would have completely wiped me out though>>12723899Nice mane color and scarf. What's up with that band-ade though? The shading seems to suggest it's hovering right above her coat towards her eye.
>>12729516JetWave, what's your DA and do you do commissions?
>>12729576Google is your friend http://jetwave.deviantart.com/I do commissions, but they haven't been that popular until just recently. I have three on the way and two more might be added on that list. If it ends up becoming 6 confirmed commissions I'll probably have to take the next step and close them until these are finished. Earlier I always had a "always open commissions if you want art seriously enough to pay money" policy, which started off to avoid lists of requests from random peoples.
>>12729926I dunno what kind of prices are suitable for you.God damn eet.
>>12730343Well, most people seem to suggest about $10 bucks per pony in a picture, if that's any help.

>>12738690Clopfic. But art is always nice as well. Difference is that if I crave for Pip art I can just draw it myself. >>12738708Those are the only two I know of as well. Especially Harsh Reality was one I dug up from some old 4chan archive and posted on the blog. Fallout Equestria: Silent Ponyville seem to touch on the subject a bit as well but the writing is a bit too extraordinary shitty for my tastes.>>12738747Oh, crap. Well... I really can't come up with anything right now. Maybe.. LittlepipxRedEye? But then I assume you would like more in a suggestion than just the pair doing it.Or just fuck it and write some LittlepipxRita. She has been looking at that kind of butts before anyway.
Oh my gods, I just had an idea.Littlepip X R63 Red Eye.
>>12739154"What are we going to do on my bed Miss Pip?">pomf>intense lesbian horse strapon fucking
>>12738777eh, you're not the only one.I've never actually been really drunk. I would wuite like to drink some of these cocktails people are coming up with.
>>12739491> I have never really been drunkYou had better be from Freedomland.I can work with claplanders who have never been drunkThey don't know any better. But a eurotard? For shame. sage for severely off topic.
>>12723899Okay... Slightly late answearing this but... I did that wasteland pony completely with normal round hard edged brush. I just adjust the density between 70-100 and use the colour picker a lot for transitions. I never liked the airbrush effect and rest of the special brushes seem weird.also... batpone raider?Pic almost related... It was originally supposed to be a raider character, but it just slipped more into fantasy setting and from pony into a horsie.
>>12738747Actually, something that I would like to see is some honest, hot love. Not just the usual sex because sex feels good. As Littlepip and Red Eye are quite big favorites of mine, somehow getting them in a straight fuck with some love-feels involved as well would be fucking awesome. But then that might be too serious for smut. >>12739154That's actually not a bad idea.
>>12739031>LittlepipXRitaGod, I can't imagine a scenario where that would end well for Pip.Rita is to Pip as Bronies is to Rainbow Dash...
>>12740591Well, I suppose it could be a raider pony. Fallout did nods to other franchises and I guess there would be some chaos worshipping cults in the wastes. If I saw this raider I would simply run irrespective of how well equipped I am.
>>12741452Could be worse though Rita x Rainbow Dash. OR, x Glory looking like Rainbow Dash. Would Rita believe her protestations that she isn't RD? I think not.
>>12741549I am not fan or rape at all.But any of that would end in rape.Or at least attempted, pretty sure either of them could beat the shit out of Rita.
>>12741613You know, I'm not sure if I'd like to see that. I mean, it would be hilarious, but Rita would be devastated.
>>12741549>>12741613Wait, Glory? For some reason I was thinking Glimmer.Oh god, PH.Yeah, that couldn't happen because Glory and PH is so non-canon to AbH that I can't think of a good enough metaphor to express it.
>>12741704Honestly, she'd have it coming. She's a horrible horrible person and at least one town dies because of her.
>>12740591always while I'm AFK... and holy shit, a guy with skills that actually *answers.*I'll dick around with that s'more. I've mostly just been indulging in excuses for wielding other brushes.and yes, batpone raider. More accurate term for the character is a professional thief/con artist, but I don't suppose anyone would actually know that because I haven't written anything with her yet. Ah well.As for the colored shading/highlights, (wintertrot cover) I assume you use a similar method?
>>12740591I'm not too good on telling one from the other, but is dat sum fantasy warhammer? or is that 40k?
So I got mugged at work today.
>>12739031>>12741009Okay, it'll take me a little while, but I'll get it done for you. I'll most likely put this one to G.docs rather than Fimfic because my self set rule is that I don't use characters that aren't mine without permission and then upload them to the cloptacular story, but I'll see about writing it once I've got the inspiration. Also, straight, tender love is actually easy for me because I'd only have to imagine it being my normal pairing from my story and I could recreate the feels anyway.
>>12747310Look at all that muny..
>>12742091Pretty much... Though with colour pieces I actually have to do some colour blocking first due to hue and saturation variation between areas that are lit or in shadow. Greyscale is just so easy and relaxing to do because all I have to worry about is value.http://imgur.com/a/JEcXA#0http://imgur.com/a/JTamNHere's couple of albums that might help understand how I go about drawing. Should be way clearer than me trying to explain it. Not so good wip images of my coloured things though. Partly because my coloured stuff is still pretty blehh.>>12742684I'd say closer to fantasy, but ehh... 40k and FB are pretty darn close to each other with chaos and daemons. Now I should just stop doing these comfort zone drawings and finish this bugger....
>>12734875>I came>>12747475Are you serious?? If you are, I freaking love you and I'll draw you more smut
so does anybody have any more art tips? i'd like to make stuff for this thread, but i'm not confident enough in what i produce would not be something that would make you want to take a knife to your eyes. also, should i use sai, or photoshop, or firealpaca?
>>12754739I'm no artist, but I recommend to just keep practising and not stop.
>>12754739why are you here instead of drawing? Why are you here without an open sketchbook in your hand? Why aren't you drawing oodles of doodles with photo references of pony using basic structural spaghetti sketches until you can mold the shapes down to what you want, then drawing over with thicker lines and erasing old scribbles, and then either drawing over, in a new layer if digital or with a light board or tracing paper if traditional, with thicker more final lines?you gotta draw draw draw. No amount of tutorials online can teach you guitar if you don't spent hours on end practicing. I'll tell you now though the guitar at least will get you more chicks, drawing only gets you the 2d ones.
>>12754165Of course I'm serious. I take pride in that someone would request something like that.I told myself I'd be trying to focus on writing chapter twenty one of my fic, so instead of entirely dropping it, what I'll do is whenever I'm in a smutty mood or just can't get writing on the chapter, I'll be thinking of what to write/writing your thing. And again, yeah, actual feelsy stuff isn't past my experience. My story has some very romance focused parts and I've been told that once it actually gets going, it's the best romance of any of the fics three different people have read.So feelsy romantic clop is simply adding more intimate details to a usual romantic scene, something I'm confident with.So yeah, don't you worry, I'll write it.If it's good enough at the end, I may even ask Kkat to see if she's okay with it going on the cloptacular list of clop.
If everyone's drawing today how about something fun and simple. Draw fallout gear on this poor naked pony.
>>12754979It's gonna be difficult without a tablet...Challenge accepted.
>>12754979For a traditional artist, challenge accepted.I have no light board or anything I could use as one :-(
>>12754946Can't really agree on that. Practice does not make perfect, merely permanent. There is a good chance you develop bad habits if you don't know how to do things properly. For example I still draw with my wrist instead of using my whole arm. http://huussii.deviantart.com/gallery/ Look at what kind of progress Huussi has done in a very short time. ctrl alt pain has great tutuorial videos. Also if you aren't easily shocked you could also visit other sites. http://www.reddit.com/r/MLPdrawingschool/
>>12755196yeah and your chances of learning guitar aren't good if you're just strumming the strings and not taking lessons or at least using tutorials. The reason people say things like I did is because so many people get hung up on just watching and reading tutorials to procrastinate putting them to use. You need them, but you need to draw more.
So for someone looking to run a fallout game (possibly without ponies) what system would they even run? I heard there's an official one, but also heard that it's awful. What system does the pen and paper group run here?
>>12756299The games here run off of the official one Kkat is working on, I believe.
>>12756299Fallout and the SPECIAL are more or less a bastardization of GURPS. You could either roughly adapt it from the standard ruleset (though perks, traits and items would be painful to do) or use what we use in the PnP, just, you know, without the pony stuff: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1fsNLwKTWEt0pawFWLRzBtEPfvDQGitGPh8NN3Zk0xo4/edit?pli=1
>>12756299There's an actual Fallout PnP.http://falloutpnp.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page
>>12754946i meant digital tutorials, like, brush settings, and how to make lineart that isn't grainy looking.
>>12756435I was hoping on avoiding the items, that's a bit beyond my scope, I'm mostly just an ideas guy.I recognize the link though; I've given it a look through and made a character when I was bored once, but I was hoping for some way to do one without ponies since my little group does not seem to appreciate them too much. Thanks though, I'd still like to catch a PnP game and join in some day. Sitting in and watching for an hour or so has made me confident it'll be a good game.>>12756484Fascinating. I'll give it a look through, thanks.>>12756362>Kkat>working on oneHoooly shit, Kkat has a hand in all this still?! Color me impressed.
>>12756976>I'd still like to catch a PnP game and join in some dayYou just need to get yer ass in Steamchat and somebody will be there to give you a hand. Link's in the OP, at the bottom of the "Collaboration Document" gdoc page.
bumping for the good of all mankind.

We must vote for our heroine.
Made the image better
>>12765323We all know Button's Mom is going to win.
>>12765365My heart, you mean.Figure there's more Fallout Equestria porn or more Button's Mom r34 out there?
>>12765365Actually Fluffle Puff is winning, with LP being a far-off second.I am okay with this, if only because the actual character is better than what it inspired.
>>12765506Wait, so Snowdrop isn't automatically winning?THANK. GAWD.
>>12765588Yeah, though my mistake on that placement. Order currently is Fluffle, Button's Mom, LP, and Snowdrop.Sadly, Snowdrop is literally a hundredth of a percent behind LP, so vote anons! We must not let the Lightbringer's popularity be outshined!
>>12765323That poll is horrible. Most of the characters there have little to no development bar Littlepip and Nyx. Nyx has a lot of issues leaving Littlepip as the best character from a quality point of view, but dear god I really don't like her so I'm torn.I also read Broken Steel. In short it's a mess. Even ignoring the myriad of grammar and spelling mistakes resulting from an author with a literary disability and no prereaders, the story itself is all over the place. It's like a horrible crossover mashup and there's a LOT of dead weight. If they kept focused on the core story Steel Ranger grappling with their morality/anger issues and the ancient machine bent on carving its' way across the wasteland you might have something good, but it would need a lot of work.
>>12765646And so I returned to EQD for the first time in over a year...

>>12770272this is why I feel that the future stories of the setting would work better if the gardens only worked like 3/4's the way
>>12770318They all get killed by the NCR.>>12770364Nah it's just very complicated. You have so many issues and shit the afterword doesn't cover, but at the same time that's a double edge sword. You gotta stick close to canon else it's shit. And you have to explore the NCR, problem of pollution from imported elements, what happened to the area covered by that SPP tower which Homage blew to bits, Ghouls dying en mass, groups with deferring opinions and ideals given a join or die option. etc.In the story I'm writing to make it a bit more 'apocalyptish' there is a massive drought and crazy weather since something seems to be wrong with the SPP, and no one has been able to contact Pip.
>>12770500Hmm... I guess it's easy to imagine Aqua Cura shipments spilling and poisoning chunks of land again, and for the Hold out's this story would take place before they got wiped out/integrated into the post-unity groups
>>12770564Well they are taking radioactive objects from foreign countries as well which was to echo the coal which started the war, but that also means ponies are bringing in contaminated shit enmass. It's not going to happen over night, but Equestria will get poisoned, and of course they're might be the equivalent of an oil spill/nuclear meltdown that doesn't do any good for the environment. Can't set off the gardens again else you have a shit load of angry ponies when their generators are reduced to shit, and even angrier ghouls whose life time supply of Aqua Cura is worthless. Not as bad as the wasteland before, but you can still see it from here.

I had a dream about you guys last night. I don't remember exactly why, but you were saying something about how this board doesn't really do animations, and that there were only two threads about it. Forgot what one was about, but I think JetWave said the other was for Acid and said something else about how she looks like Vinyl. >>12779759>I was rather worried about it.Why? Because of its lenght? The pacing was right, if your fear was that it would feel drawn out. If anything, more Peddler for everyone, hah!
>>12779938Well I always worry about overshooting it, I tend to be overly verbose at times. The shorts have been getting progressively longer as time has gone by, and this one has crossed the line from 'Short' to 'Episode', which I was kind of trying to avoid for production reasons. But it seems the length was warranted on this outing. Still with any luck the next few episodes will turn back to the quick, weekly short views into the life of Equestria's most prodigious peddler.

God damn we have nothing to discuss.
Think of a character. They are now the leading role of a movie! What is this movie about? It can be one that exists or something you've made up.
>>12785094No, we have shit to discuss, just that no-one ever reads anything other than fucking Murky or Project Horizons, making it look like we have nothing to discuss.

What is one scene from the original or any side fic that you would do differently?>Pip attempting to get the Wonderbolts on their side.I would have just killed them. It wasn't like they actually did anything except destroy Pip's transportation, and knock her friends out trying to kill her. She clearly came out worse off after trying not to fight them.
>>12794555If I recall, it was because she thought she needed one of them to perform a Rainboom
>>12794815But they didn't
>>12794555Blackjack's crippling and cybernetics, less absurd levels of injury, more crude replacement parts, less adam Jensen more Scotsman
>>12794555The scene where velvet flips out and kills the guys running the child-fighting-league. She swore she'd never ever kill anyone, kills them and justifies it by saying they weren't people. Then she continues acting like a sanctimonious bitch all the time. It was a chance for some development, but none happened, she went back to the same holier-than-thou asshole she was before.
>>12794555obviously BJ would be dead so the fic would have ended months ago just because it was still on its original path and not meandering around everywhere.Murky and his friends would have escaped after the stable.Flankorage would never be on hiatus and would still be updating.
>>12795228people keep saying this but i don't see it. I did see development there. I have no idea what everyone's talking about. It was like Pip said, that was her Arbu. The wasteland broke her and she did something she would then regret, but then the nature of a hero isn't someone that falls, but someone who gets back up again.Did you even read the same fic? come on guys.
>>12795474You don't grow from an experience by denying it and rationalizing it away. You need to acknowledge what happened and look at exactly what went on and why. I don't really see that she did any of that.
>>12795596We saw enough. What more do you actually want? You want her to break character to angst externally about a deep emotional problem for several pages because the story is told from first person and we're only giving insight into the emotions of others as far as Pip herself experiences them?Seriously, what did yo expect?
>>12795596Who says she needed to grow? The realism of it is that when someone who vows to not or to do something fails to meet their promise from loss of self-control, one of the primary responses you can expect is for them to rationalize their actions to avoid confronting the fact that they weren't strong enough. That they failed themselves. It wouldn't be as realistic, or provide as much character depth for Velvet to immediately accept it. The first of the five stages of grief is denial after all.Velvet represents the person who clings to an ideal even though she may not be truly strong enough to actually live up to her word, but tries to ignore that fact for as long as possible because she fears what she may become without that moral to cling to.Just a thought.
>>12795705>>12795779Guys. The question was what would you change. I'd add some growth, maybe have her decide "Hey, I guess it's not always possible to have a peaceful resolution, and that some people need to be killed to allow a safe society to develop and grow" instead of what happened. It all comes down to opinions in the end.Now why not post about which scene you'd change?
>>12795889Well why should she come to that conclusion? I can't see any reason why she should rethink her morals based on a hasty choice of her own she made in a moment of passion. And who's to say she wasn't right to begin with? Who says there's ever a reason to kill? That sounds more like projecting your own beliefs and being annoyed that she doesn't accept them.
What's funny is that it was actually the second time she'd killed someone, after the slaver she shot back in Chapter 8.
>>12796005She should accept that conclusion because she's agreed with it all along. She travels with a group that kills DOZENS of people. And what does she do?She gives them medical care so they can continue to roam around, killing ponies they deem worthy of dying.Without her implicit compliance how many lives would be saved? Without their medic, how much lower would their combat effectiveness be? Their recovery time would skyrocket.Even if she occasionally snips 'You know, you -really- shouldn't be killing those guys... It's like, totally wrong' while doing her nails, does she really believe she's fully against it? If she were half the pacifist she thought she was she'd have dropped their asses and opened a free clinic somewhere, instead of teaming up with a roaming band of murderers.
>>12796142These murderers are better than BJ's group that's for sure. So suck it!
>>12796142I think you missed a huuuuge thing in the fic.Remember when she said to Pip that killing the raiders wouldn't make them go away? And that the source needed to be stopped so the healing could start? That was not long after she killed those raiders. After saying that there's no reason for ponies to act like that. That she couldn't understand that they exist at all. She gave Pip the idea that she needed to become a literal light bringer and bring back the sun so that Equestria could heal and ponies wouldn't have to struggle as much to survive, that civilization could be brought back and the wild finally beaten down. All of that, everything, because Velvet was broken by the wasteland, forced to break her virtue, got back up again, and tried to figure out why she failed. And she was right in a way. She was right to heal even the enemies. Because them 'getting back up and killing' isn't a definite thing, and they did explain that there's a prison in the NCR for anyone not going along with the peace. Seriously did you even read the same damn fic?
>>12796353>And they did explain that there's a prison in the NCR for anyone not going along with the peace.Yeah, and how great did that work out for the NCR in fallout...Also Calamity kinda went and slaughtered a bunch of raiders so they still deem them 'not ponies'.
>>12796477because that totally matters to the point of that scene not being a building point for velvet's character.
>>12796353Maybe we're thinking on different frequencies or something but here's my take.Source? Of what? The source of all evil? Like there's a big shiny black orb in the desert making ponies be dicks to eachother? Making them rape and kill and steal because it's easy and there are no consequences for doing so?Spoiler alert: There is no such thing. You can't "make them good", you can only make them afraid or make them dead. Both of which are done through force. They're jerks that steal because it's easier than not stealing.Ten years later, after crop growing is easy and Pip has become 'the lightbringer' there are STILL RAIDERS.Just because they could drop their life of violence and debauchery doesn't mean they will. Why do raider attacks decrease? Because of the increased presence of security forces and guards. May as well make posters saying "Raid and we'll shoot you".The increased safety was not due to hugging and sharing, it was not from some noble ideal or a lightbringer. It happened because enough people got together with enough guns and said "Hey! I have an idea, let's kill all the raiders!".Maybe you're thinking in terms of video game logic, where there is a literally endless supply of angry 20 year olds wearing tires wielding pool cues trying to attack you, but I'm not. I'm thinking of real people, who are more than "There's the player, let's get him" and actually have thoughts and motivations.
>>12796549>Maybe you're thinking in terms of video game logic, where there is a literally endless supply of angry 20 year olds wearing tires wielding pool cues trying to attack you, but I'm not. I'm thinking of real people, who are more than "There's the player, let's get him" and actually have thoughts and motivations. What's aggravating is that the fic plays at both. At times, it tries to make the raiders out to be individuals driven to violence, and at other times the characters make fourth wall-tapping comments about respawning bad guys.
>>12796734I completely agree with you, which is a big reason I brought it up. Thinking one way or the other drastically changes your interpretation of what's going on.
>>12796734That's just because Kkat played 3 first and her first experience writing about apocalyptia is doing a let's play of 3.>>12796534Well I can't really argue because there wasn't any character building. Nothing really happened, she stayed the same and didn't even get a new perspective on her beliefs. We can't argue on non-existent moments.
>>12796273would you say that BJ's band is even remotely sympathetic?
>>12797026Would you sympathize with your rapists if they cried while brutalizing you?
>>12796890>>12796734so what was the actual change? her acknowledging that she failed her own ideals? Or her giving up on said ideals? it kinda got lost in the argument
>>12797026I actually have a lot of sympathy for Rampage. She just got dealt a shit hand and all she wants is to not have to play anymore.
>>12797087That's just it, there is no change. She didn't change, that's the problem.
>>12797080part of this is shitty luck, its like the story doesn't want to give them the chance to not ruin someone's life be trying to be good, what else could they do?
>>12797114I ment the proposed change
>>12797118it's Spec Ops the Line, except the story hasn't worked out that Walker is the bad guy. Blackjack will never be a hero, she simply isn't, the best thing she and her band of murderhobos could do for everyone is to stop, quit this idiotic quest, forget the hoof and EC-whateverthefuck, let the fuckers in hoofington kill themselves and move on.
>>12797156>>12797201But the well of souls, the Harbingers, the Lives that need saving, all the unanswered questions!
>>12797156but then they would never have made up for their mistakes
>>12797221>>12797266Well I don't know what's at the edge of the universe or if there are extraterrestrials/higher beings, and I am somewhat responsible for the death of my mother's best friend, but I'm not going to go to Zimbabwe and blow up a bunch of starving children and get AIDS, Malaria, get raped, turned into Mistah Jaysee Deenton in dah fresh, and then kill more children just to find out.
>>12797201thats rather heartless
>>12797307you're exaggerating, they don't go out of their way to kill people like that.
>>12797307I love you.
>>12797342Well hey man, they were cannibals, I had to kill them.
>>12797379well yeah, you don't let a rabid dog live, you put it down before it hurt's anyone else or has to suffer anymore, thats what the hoofington raider virus does
>>12797342and yet they keep killing people, many of which were just dragged in, good intent can only get you so far, now it's just Blackjack's unwillingness to admit she is beyond redemption, that she already is the monster she fears becoming, not because she stopped caring, but because there is simply nothing to save in hoofington.
>>12797424Exactly mang. I fucking hate dogs. It's like I'm back in South America again only the dogs seem to want to bite anything. Also it's not like they're dead forever: My Witch doctor companion shoves their bodies up with these magical herbs which turn them into walking corpses. They're really handy around the recently abandoned Catholic Mission we've taken up as a home, do all the agriculture and get shot at first.Oh shit, there's another Police raid going on. My legs are shot out but I get the zombies to drag me around and I use my relatively healthy arms to shoot. Time to be an hero again.
>>12797645what? you keep acting like there is malice in this insanity
>>12797424>thats what the hoofington raider virus doesIt also allows Blackjack to gun down hordes of raiders without any of the potential moral quandaries or implications.>>12797484>there is simply nothing to save in hoofingtonHoofington is just stupid in how horrible it is. It isn't even a new observation or anything.I mean, everyone who dies there goes to Hell. Literally. Just by virtue of having expired in that physical location. The place is just unbelievably ass.
>>12797850to me it goes back to >>12796549 except in this case there is a ball of evil making all the bad shit happening, as opposed to the simple tragedy of the Human/Pony condition, because we can't have people going bad due to their own choices
I have a question, would you consider the Ministry Mares to be bad people?
Survival isn't a race, it's a marathon. To get to the end, or at least in a better position, one will always find the easiest method with the best possible output toward a goal. In the case of raiders, it's violence for immediate self benefit, such as being able to eat or staving off dehydration for another day.Raiders are, essentially, like the gangs of today only with simpler resources. Instead of cash or drugs, it's food and water. Once that's established, then the "luxuries" come by. People join up because it's beneficial, and they aren't able to make it out there on their own. Exactly like how LP needed help from Calamity and Velvet most of the time, only for some reason they were considered the good guys when they escalated the body count and blew shit up.The only difference between Little Pip's band and a group of raiders is that Little Pip's troupe are more effective, thorough, and better equipped murderers. No one that would happen to disagree with them is left alive to argue.Hell, with her raging against the status quo, LP probably appeared as more of a dangerous psychopath than anything else, especially since she was so comfortable in her actions.
>>12798043I think it helps that they actually gave half a shit about other people and helped out whenever they could
>>12798038No.Foolish, certainly, but not bad people.None of them were actively malicious*, they tried what they thought was best (and was within their abilities) to protect their citizens and better their nation.*- Except maybe Rainbow Dash, she was the only one of the Ministry Mares to have killed another (a confirmed kill anyway), at least I assume she killed people, being captain of an elite military hit squad. But even that doesn't automatically make her a bad person, depending on your definition.
>>12798023>in this case there is a ball of evil making all the bad shit happen>people going bad due to their own choices>>12796734>What's aggravating is that the fic plays at both.
>>12798118this is the same thing I consider Pip and BJ, they aren't evil, just short sighted, thinking they can become that nonexistent perfect hero, and inevitably fucking it up when reality strikes. Granted for both there is a significantly higher body count, but it seems you can't to anything in the wasteland without at least being an accessory to death.
>>12798190Very different cases. If Applejack went up to a bunker of Steel Rangers and said "Gimme yer water talisman or I'mma kill all yalls!" she would be a bad person.Coincidentally enough, Pip did this exact thing! Then she shot everyone. Like a common raider.
>>12798080It was more of an "intervention with my own morals" thing.IE- the part in new apploosia. She basically got a bunch of their guys killed, destroyed a well established trade (slaves), and threw a bunch of kids (whom the town only had resources to feed because the stallions got killed) into the mix. This was all because of her morals, and the fact she believed others should follow the same creed.I'm not disagreeing with you, quite the opposite. I'm not about to ignore the fact that LP is a really destructive cunt for the sake of what she believes is right, though. God help you if you get in her way.
>>12798253>>12798220and? Slave trading is wrong, Also the Steel Rangers are a bunch of dicks anyway
>>12798220The literal saying is "Two wrongs don't make a right"You were talking about Pip being a good person. Good people don't rob an outpost, killing everyone inside to take what they want. The Ministry Mares never did anything like that, so you saying "Well they both have good intentions!" doesn't get you anywhere.
>>12798300taking the bait>Slave trading is wrongAgreed. But so is damaging the infrastructure of a community you know next to nothing about, for the sake of an emotional investment within a personal code of conduct.Oh, and she killed like, a whole bunch of people in the process too. It's cool though, they were dicks anyway.
>>12798416you keep saying she's not in the wrong but you keep deconstructing her methods, what are you trying to say?
Why can't we have these epic discussion in the daytime? WHY?
>>12798442Are you reading the same posts I am.He's saying she absolutely is in the wrong, and in no way is she a good person.I mean, the end goal of her getting into the SPP is so she can say "Play nice or I will starve every last one of you winged motherfuckers"
>>12798459It is daytime.
>>12798459Because we get 3 posts in and some faggot goesDAE MURKY GUIZ?OMG PH SO BAD RITE?R63 PIP PLZ!every 6 goddamn posts. At this hour we have some fucking peace and can talk for 15 minutes without some dick trying to derail the convo
>>12798442I'm saying that while I agree in certain moral concepts, she's a completely violent bitch. She's no different than a raider with some intellect, and that the only reason she's the good guy is because she basically overpowered anyone that would argue. That, and she survived long enough to force her morality on others- shit, she even nuked an entire town because she didn't fully agree with the leader. He was developing tech to purge the shit out of the wasteland, too. What the fuck.
>>12798558That's why I'm having a hard time continuing the story. I'm immersed in the universe, but I want to strangle Little Pip
>>12798558Mah nigga. This makes me feel not so alone in my opinion of Pip being a bitch that's never in the "wrong". Pardon me, but I can't expect to give at damn at what happens to her in the end if I rly hate the character at that point. BJ's got a lot of redeeming to do, likely by death, if Somber expects me to care what happens at the end.
>>12798558are you saying the writer's are siding with the wrong character? what is the point of this?
>>12798558slavery is wrong, simple as that, you think you can build a better world on atrocities, you are a bad person, that's it.
>>12798706Holy shit, is this guy serious? This has to be bait, right?
>>12798728no, im 100% serious, why are you trying to tell me the good guys are bad guys?
>>12798759What is her goal? To get inside the SPP.Why?Because is controls the cloud generators. The pegasi need the cloud generators to create specially enriched clouds so they can feed thousands of civilians. Her plan is to threaten to turn those off. She wants to get inside and say "Be nice and do what I say or you all starve"That sound nice? Sure, it all worked out but if things had gone a tiny bit different she wouldn't be the Wasteland Heroine, she'd be "That Crazy Bitch That Killed All The Pegasi"And that's just one example, there are more
>>12798558her morals, were the ones that mattered, everyone else was too busy being a monster or a selfish dickwad, you act like her telling people actually start caring and being good was wrong
>>12798759Go 2bed Pip. The realistic adults are talking.
>>12798812it's not like the general public of the pegasi were bad, it was a measure to deal with the fanatics, it would never have come to it, the real goal was to get the cloud cover open so the folks on lend could actually grow some fucking food and establish an infrastructure that didn't need to be built on the backs of the opressed
>>12798826Her morals killed about 3 dozen adults to save like 6 children.Logistically those are pretty shitty morals. Who's gonna do the work to actually rebuild society now? Plus all the New Appleoosans didn't ask to have that shit brought down on them, but because Pip decided it was RIGHT, they were shredded by miniguns.
>>12798883umm she WAS RIGHT!!!! you act like idealism itself if a bad thing.
>>12798881You're right, the general public weren't bad. But she still threatened to starve them. How's that good again?>>12798933So her morals are the only thing that matter then? What she thinks is right? Then let's apply raider logic. They aren't bad people, they only rape and murder and steal because they need to survive. They aren't bad people either. It's RIGHT to take food so your kids don't starve, isn't it?
>>12798972if she was a bad person why is she the one the story sides with?
>>12798933And what about slavers? They probably have no means of survival unless they take advantage of their resources: weak ponies. If helping your friends and small community is the most moral thing you can do, how far would you go to uphold that moral?
>>12799008You can't use out of story logic to justify in story events. Also because they write books about bad people too
JetWave:Asked Kkat, she said no to uploading the smut (when I write it) to FimFic - so you'll have it on G.docs instead. She didn't mind it in general, not that it would have really stopped me with it being G.docs, but unfortunately it won't go up on Fimfic. (Unfortunately for me, anyway. Might've got some crazy attention, or might've made people rage.)
>>12799030There is always a better way, don't you dare tell me that evil is the ever the only option
>>12799039the story never treats her as a bad person, why are you trying to make me see her as such?
>>12799057>There is always a better wayAnd isn't killing evil? Little Pip didn't HAVE to kill those slavers and raiders, now did she? Couldn't she have taken a more moral approach?
>>12799057But how's that evil? He's doing what he has to to provide for his family!Do you want his children to starve? He doesn't have a choice! If he stops capturing ponies to sell as slaves his 8 kids will all die!>>12799073The story absolutely treats her as a bad person. What about during and after Arbu? Homage herself says "Hide if you see her coming, she's bad now".And I'm trying to make you see her as one because she IS A BAD PERSON.
as a side note to offhand shit,"Hey, would you mind going off and breaking your legs for me? I could really use it for research purposes. Oh, and chug the irradiated water in the town square, I need some info on that too." -Moira>yfw you never realized that in accepting the quests, you were rolling crit fails against her speech skill>yfw she was snickering behind your back to the other mercs and townies on what she convinced your stupid ass to do>>12798706this bait is so delicious omnomnomNuking a town is a pretty nasty atrocity, why is this act pardoned of any wrongdoing?>>12798759The wasteland doesn't have good guys or bad guys, merely factions that one agrees with or not. They're all trying to survive the way they know best, which puts them at odds with one another.Little Pip fucks this up so hard.>>12799008the bait at this point is like those little bags of doritoshttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ProtagonistBecause she's that thing there. Protagonist does not mean "good guy." It merely means the character that is most focused upon.>>12799057now you're getting the idea. See >>12799098 .Shit, she had such wonderful capacity with speech, she could have done so much better.
>>12799100Arbu was a bunch of cannibals and nobody had known until later
>>12799117>The wasteland doesn't have good guys or bad guysNigga what? Are you going to tell me with a straight face that Red eye, Autumn Leaf, and The goddess weren't bad guys, get this moral relativist bullshit out of here
>>12799175Red Eye was going to save the whole fucking wasteland, without the miraculous device conveniently given to her by a plot-device dragon.Autumn leaf was looking out for his own people, as were the Goddess. None of those make them objectively bad people.
>>12799199>Slavery>killing the entire ground below>wiping out free willwhy must you use, "Their own people" as the excuse, there are more people out there, that also need saving
>>12799199Red Eye was a Tyrant, ruling an industrial hell hole and deliberately killing his slaves ability to feel empathy for each other
>>12799199then what does that make the gardens? chopped liver? or do we want to start bringing writing ability of the author into question?
>>12799223Because if you don't use "your own people" as the excuse we are all history's greatest monsters. If they can be called villains for not caring about 'other people' then so can we.Do you know how much horror happens daily? How much murder and rape and starvation and suffering happens to people that "aren't ours" every goddamn day?If Red Eye is a monster for not caring about "other people" then we are all monsters for not saving the helpless suffering all around the world. But we aren't monsters for drawing that line, so fuck 'em.>>12799243And he was making results. Would Aunt and Uncle Fruit Cup enjoy the labour? Nope. Would they ever see its benefits? Nope. But that doesn't mean they worked for nothing. They were building a new world where people could actually live again. The intentions were there, and if Gardens didn't exist Red Eye would be the best bet for recovery.>>12799253It makes Gardens a convenient plot device, nothing more. If Gardens didn't exist the world would never pull itself back together without someone like Red Eye
>>12799322well the gardens did exist, making all that horror he inflicted pointless, seriously what do you want from me?
>>12799322How much murder and rape and starvation and suffering happens to people that "aren't ours" every goddamn day?and what are you doing, saying we shouldn't be helping them, where are your morals? Your Ideals? we need more fucking idealism in this land of edgy cynics
>>12799356Dude, you're seriously saying he's immoral because he didn't have information that was unavailable to him?I... I think you have brain problems. Please see a doctor or at least learn how to analyze works of literature.
>>12799223>>12799243>not realizing LP was doing the exact same thingLP didn't like slavery. So she killed a shitload of people over it.LP didn't like the enclave's methods. So, she blackmailed their entire civilization which had otherwise survived a nuclear holocaust.A guy with the implicit and obvious goal of cleaning the pollution caused by the great war didn't have the moral restraints Pip had. So she nuked him.>>12799253Yes indeed, the GECK. Why not just use it as a bargaining chip, so long as Red Eye frees all his slaves? No need for work, no need for the suffering of slaves... what happens when that many slaves are freed, by the way? You've got a lot of mouths to feed and water. Shit, a great deal of them would have probably stayed as a voluntary work force because they didn't know anything else, and they'd be promised food, water, and shelter.
>>12799395His METHODS were immoral and RENDERED pointless, NO good came from what he was doing, no good comes from doing bad things, EVER, now WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU WANT FROM ME!!!!!!
>>12799378What are you doing to save them? Did you buy a coffee today? That 1.64 could feed a child 4 meals!YOU FUCKING PIG, HOW DARE YOU DEPRIVE THAT STARVING ETHOPIAN.All for a coffee? Is it worth it? Why didn't you feed him? I don't care if you fed 39 others, why didn't you feed a 40th? A 41st? a 100th?Skip lunch, feed 7 kids. Take an overtime shift, feed 38 more! Sell your car, feed 700 more! Sell your house and live on the streets, feed ten thousand children!Where is the line? When does it stop?Never. You can ALWAYS do more, so if you have any fault, you have all of it.
>>12799427>no good comes from doing bad thingsI dunno, Pip did a lot of good, and look at all the evil bullshit she did along the way!
>>12799407Please, what do you want me to do?
>>12799447killing villains, freeing slaves, uniting new elements of harmony, clearing the sky, oh yeah, real evil stuff here
>>12799431but then there's nothing left to give? how can you help everyone? there's supposed to be enough for everyone!!
>>12799468Butchering Steel Rangers to take their shit, murdering civvies, nuking a town, getting bystanders killed a dozen at a time... Real grade a stuff
>>12799498Can't make an omelet without breaking some eggs.No-one is perfect.
>>12799450>implying I wanted you to do anything but indulge in interweb conversation while I was drunk, which you have already done>>12799468"Good. Bad. I'm the guy with the gun."
>>12799495There is always more to give, anon. And you're a disgusting piece of shit for not giving it. What will you say to the mother that lost her child to malaria? I couldn't afford to give more? She will look at you and say "Why my child? Why didn't you save little Dikembe? Why didn't you sell your shoes so he could live?"How dare you let that child die.
>>12799498>Steel RangersVillains>CivviesAgain, Hidden Cannibals>Nuking a townI remember nuking Marapony, not a cityAlso when did she shoot bystanders?
>>12799518I thought this all had some kind of point! you have been breaking my belief in the inherent goodness in people this entire time FOR A CHEAP CONVERSATION!!!!!>>12799525can't I give without having nothing, if I give everything, I'll die, but if I don't then I'll always be selfish...WHAT DO YOU PEOPLE WANT!?!!?!?
>>12799538>>12799549Touching, but useless. That beach goes on forever. If you are responsible for saving the starfish, then you are also responsible for the death of every starfish you do not save. When does the boy eat, or sleep or go home? What happens to that next starfish in line, the one he didn't save? That starfish, and every one after it dies, their blood on his hands. If he walked another 5 feet there would be another starfish saved. And another 5 feet after that.>>12799568Exactly. You will always be selfish. That's what I wanted you to admit, and you did.In the end, you, and your own people come first. If you only have enough bread for yourself and your family, you're not going to share. You just agreed with me.
>>12799606I do not collect, Neither the living nor the dead. I gave it up a long time ago. Death is the only successful collector.
I'm not saying not to help people. I AM saying it is not your obligation or your responsibility to do so.Nobody can say you HAVE to or you NEED to or even that you SHOULD. Every act of charity is a gift, given from one person to another, and there is precisely zero obligation to do it.
>>12799699then why do people always say it's a moral obligation?
>>12799896Because people are wrong a lot of the time?
>>12799951then what about the idea of absolute good in the universe?
>>12800009Because the jerks saying "Y'all need ta give ta churity" are the manifestation of absolute good and total purity?A concept like that may exist, but no living person can embody it.
>>12800041Looks like someone needs Jesus
>>12799427> No good comes from doing bad things.Dude.Nothing is ever so bad that it isn't good for something. And nothing is ever so good that it isn't bad for something. This is a fact of life.
