The episode had a lot of great stuff in it.

If it were about 50% longer and better-paced I don't think anyone would have any complaints, but it just went so fast I can see why a lot of people would be put off.

Personally I enjoyed it. I'm gonna say it's just barely beaten out by Party of One for best episode.

Ending was really rushed. You could have cut the first act down a little to give the ending more time to develop and play out.

Other than that, this was a great episode with lot's of nice little touches like Discord filling a glass from the top down, drinking the glass and then exploding the chocolate milk.

Oh god you guys, the chocolate milk explodes. How much of the stuff did Pinkie Pie drink?

I liked it.

Rarity fighting with Applejack over Dan, everything Fluttershy did and Discord's shenanigans were great.

Actually if you go that route, Discord's stay in stone will be relatively short, the spell broke when the royal sister's were severed from the elements of harmony. They are immortal, which in effect made the spell holding discord eternal as well. The main six are not immortal however, so when they start dying off due to age the spell that sealed him should be similarly broken. Then they will need the next bearers of the elements to deal with him.

If anything, the discord escape has just become a generational thing.
