I'm bored since classes have ended and thought I would actually give this Pony show a shot. It's.. um, not bad? I still don't see the appeal, but the puns are surprisingly funny and so long as I skip the title song at the start (yikes that's terrible) it seems like an inoffensive cartoon. Sort of like the thing I'd watch if I was with a small child and they wanted to watch TV, so that I could stand it. Don't see why it's worth watching on its own yet but maybe after the second episode.

Also, why exactly is Spyro in it? He's probably my favourite, at least.

What is UP, bronies? I'm coming complete on another fanfic chapter. I think after I finish this one, I'll put the first three up for viewing. I hope you all like it when you finally get to see it. I've seen so many people in these threads complain that all they see is shipping, so hopefully the adventure story I'm writing will be something pleasantly different.

Also, as to the OP's question: you've got to consider that Celestia was never originally supposed to rule Equestria by herself. She and Luna were supposed to rule together. Celestia was able to manage things well on her own, but I like to think that she and Luna complement each other, making up for each others' weaknesses and shoring up each others' strengths.

So instead, I'll pick a PAIR of ponies from the main six: Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash. Dash is courageous and has a strong sense of justice, but she can also be brusque and impatient. Fluttershy has incredible kindness and patience, but she can be too meek and hesitant sometimes.

I'd pick Rainbow Dash to take Celestia's place and Fluttershy to take Luna's place.

Although Dash might lead Equestria into an expansionary period...

Right, so Rainbow Dash just demonstrated loyalty by turning down the offer to join some sort of evil racing team in order to help her friends. That's kind of neat but now all I can imagine is how the story would be different if she'd caved and said yes.

Presumably they'd fail to defeat Nightmare Moon, so she'd rule Equestria in the Princess's place. Rainbow would be her troubled and reluctant enforcer, and the rest of the ponies would be stuck under the new ruler's gloomy rule.

The show could honestly carry on like that as some sort of alternate universe. When I watch the other episodes I think I'll imagine what they'd be like under these circumstances.

Don't put it all on Rainbow Dash. They each had some sort of test or needed to use their particular element of harmony to overcome a problem. Imagine an alternate universe where they each failed in some significant way? Imagine if the whole mission to find the elements of harmony was a failure, where every character would be afterward.

So say AppleJack had saved her own hide when they fell down that cliff and run off in shame, unable to face them again. Fluttershy was too shy to speak up while battling the Manticore, which died (er, kid friendly, let's say got beat up) in the ensuing fight and she flew off shocked by everyone's violence. Pinkie ran from the scary trees. Rarity refused to help the Dragon and turned back at the rapid roiling river for fear of hurting her good looks. It's pretty obvious the whole point of Twilight as Celestia's student was fulfilled in the first episode.

She trained Twilight so when her sister tried to take advantage of the thousand-year weakness in her prison, she would have a faithful and capable servant ready to restore it. Everything since then has just been meaningless live-your-life stuff, since she's effectively spent as a worthwhile asset and holds no deeper meaning for Celestia.
