I have no problem with it being magic. I just think that's a cop out. If someone bothered to explain such a thing in the context of magic (magic uses extra calories, foods are super processed to minimize waste) then that'd be fine by me. There's still some stuff that's unanswered.

There are already so many loose ends regarding the specifics of Celestia/Luna's origins and powers based on the premiere.. I find it hard to believe they are going to have any episodes dealing with the exposition of that much more background information about them because of how much it would detract from the general tone of the show
