It's really not. All cartoons, comics, tv shows and movies are commercial ventures. They're designed to make money, not to be art. Every year there are a dozen summer blockbusters designed simply to sell tickets. To sell merchandise. To sell the advertisements before the movie. To sell advertisements within the movie. Half the time they don't care about making a good product because they know their target audience will fork over their money anyway because they've been anticipating it for months or years. In other cases, they purposefully make bad products just for laughs, knowing they'll still make a fortune for the same reason (*cough* Michael Bay).

So the producers of everything want your cash. If you're lucky, the person with creative control has enough leverage and artistic skill to make a good product. MLP: FiM is a classic example. Hasbro is only interested in selling toys. Lauren Faust is a highly talented cartoonist, who wants to make good cartoons for girls, instead of the shit that Hasbro produced when she herself was a little girl.

And thankfully, that system, in this case, is working out well for everybody.

I requested three of her stories. Go me.

This episode was my least favorite so far. It had a flaw that I commonly complained about while Foster's was airing: An episode plot that could have easily been 10 minutes, stretched out into a 20 minute episode.
For example: Griffin the Brush-Off avoided being repetitive by having the episode split between the pranks section, and the Gilda section. They COULD have made the entire episode about Pinky/Dash playing pranks, or the entire episode about Pinkie dealing with Gilda, but they didn't, and the episode stayed interesting for it. This one however, was ENTIRELY about dealing with the Parasprites, and people ignoring Pinkie Pie's obvious advice. It was clear she was going to be the solution from the beginning, so I spend the whole time just waiting for that to happen. It all ended up pretty repetitive. I liked a lot of the gags, as usual, but the episode itself seemed to drag and feel frustrating.

Cool that Zecora seems to be a recurring character, though!

It was extremely repetitive and it made the ending way too obvious. So I only felt frustrated when they wouldn't listen to Pinkie. That caused the whole thing to feel dragged out.
This INDIVIDUAL gags were good as usual, but for the most part FiM has been avoiding repetitive plots like this in favor of dividing the episode up better.
