As they both worked, Spike explained to Applebloom that his trouble with Angel began when Twilight left him to care for Fluttershy's animals.
"Ah know how that is," Applebloom sympathized. "Applejack left me behind, but at least ya get to help out Twilight when she needs it. Applejack doesn't let me do anything."
"I don't see why," said Spike. "You seem like a girl who can take care of herself in tough situations. If you can help, why shouldn't Applejack let you?"
Applebloom's heart thumped a little louder in her chest and her breath quickened for a moment.
"Well," Spike said as he straightened out the last carrot in the patch, "I better be getting back. Rarity will be waiting for a proper welcome. A high-class, pretty pony like her deserves the best, and I know just the dragon to give it to her."
"High-class and pretty, huh?" Applebloom thought as she noticed how dirty she was from working on the carrots.
"See ya around, Applebloom," Spike rain off with Angel under his arm, nibbling at the ropes that bound him.
Soon after Spike left, Applejack returned to the farm and found Applebloom staring dreamily off into the sunset.
"Whatcha doin' there Applebloom?" she asked.
"Applejack?" Applebloom looked up at her sister with the saddest eyes she'd ever seen. "Do you think Ah could be high-class and pretty?"
Applejack was a bit confused and asked, "Why wouldja ask a thing like that for, sugarcube?"
"Well-" Applebloom began.
left out the explanation of her liking Spike because the picture this thing was based off of would obviously explain what happens next.
