It seems like, along with a few other incidents, the residents of Ponyville are a very reactive, nervous bunch. They don't know much more outside of their little backwoods village. I enjoy the surreal and Pinkie Pie is the master of the MLP universe.

I showed my dad who's almost in his 60's this and he loved the show. He shares my love of Pinkie but I think his favorite characters are Fluttershy and Angel.

Zecora did seem like a racist caricature to me at first, but then I remembered Applejack.

I mean, she seems a stereotypical american to me, one kind at least. I'm not personally american, so maybe that's not really a stereotype, but then again, I'm not personally african either.

She's done up with Zulu art and hair, but has a Congolese/Malian mark, and is an animal that lives in less of Africa than horses, in smaller numbers. They should've given her some Bedouin feature to complete the 'whatever, it's all African anyway' feel.
