12/11/10(Sat)02:38 No.21812765>>21812351 Princess Celestia said the climatic situation was dire, but with sustained effort, the affected areas could remain fertile.
Over the next hundred years, it became apparent that the four surviving Guardians of Harmony were now aging at a much slower rate. This was due, Honesty Smith claimed, to the alchemical metallurgy of their wills being forged into and intertwined with the Noonday Armor of Princess Celestia. They would eventually die of extreme old age, and at that time, the full effect of the years would fall on Celestia. Disenchanted, she would fall dead on the spot, her armor crumbled to dust, her strength spent.
Sweet Kindness, Rare Generosity, and Strong Loyalty helped Honesty Smith and Princess Celestia found a school of science at the new capitol city, Canterlot. Dragons, whose economy had been damaged by the Day of Night, were called upon to finance the school, and their young were trained to seek out the best and brightest of Equestria and draft them into the school by force if necessary.
Much was learned in those heady days, and students were given a royal lifestyle as they studied the ways of magic and science. The students, however, showed a disturbing tendency toward arrogance. Several left Equestria and set up their own little fiefdoms. Those that were willing to swear fealty to Celestia were left alone, as her drafted army was the grandest in all the lands, but it was often the most prosperous that were crushed under an iron shoe.
Thus it was that only the most loyal of students were ever allowed to leave the campus, and only for specific missions. Over generations, the sequestered students' social structures became ingrown and withdrawn. |
