Bright Eyes rubbed little circles in the dirt outside the tent with her hoof. The package---no bigger than an apple, wrapped in---dangled from about her neck. Her lazy eye held onto the bright blue shape of Rainbow Dash, but her good pupil studied the knots holding the makeshift camp up. They'd been tied with magic, Bright Eyes noticed, like twine around a delivery parcel. That meant Twilight was here too, or Rarity. Were they all watching from some hidden spot?

"You know I wanted to be a Wonderbolt, once? You probably did, you knew me. Before I met Twilight."

Before we ran away, Dash might've said. Bright Eyes HAD known Dash. She thought she could still find traces of the pony she had been in the mare in front of her---same spiky hair, same confidence, same energy---but the look of trust common to all all ponies in Ponyville was gone. Bright Eyes was the enemy now, not a neighbor. Bright Eyes could turn them in.

Bright Eyes knew the rest of the story. The six mares had become criminal fugitives, weird legends, shadow figures. Some had said that they were dead.
