But what do normal, non-pegasi Unterpferd use for doing things, such as cooking, carrying things, whatever?

No, but Night Mare Moon's toy can be taken apart piece by piece to reveal a second, smaller toy inside: Princess Luna.
The "outer shell" parts can be reassambled into a throne for Luna to sit, or stuff like that. And Luna's toy glows in the dark.
