This is why Rose and Dave can have violet and red eyes respectively, and why speculating on their race, which is purposefully left up to the reader, is stupid.

There are *some* constraints - societal ones. Remember that John and Jade's biological parents were raised as foster children by Betty Crocker (and, briefly, Colonel Sassacre/Samuel Clemens) in early 20th century America, which means you have to account for racial tension having been part of their background IF their ex nihilo genetics weren't caucasian. Not impossible, surely. But worth noting.

I have Just finished my re-readthrough. Minus Hivebent. I want to wait a little bit so I can really comprehend it all. Its amazing. After that Skaian battle, so much had changed, so much had happened. Its truly amazing how Hussie made all this, let alone THOUGHT OF THE WHOLE IDEA AND DREW THE ART. He is TRULY TRULY talented. I even read both of his recaps, the ones with the long text. I got a lot out of those. I understand and appreciate it a lot more. It’s just…I don’t have words. Homestuck is a once in a lifetime comic. Complete with astounding animations and countless tracks of beautiful music.

Now, something I don't understand is the "Homosuck is shit" thing and Grant. Homestuck is a very different medium with an amazing story, plot, characters and animation. There is nothing NOT to like about Homestuck it's truly something of great regard. The most complex thing I have read, but yet understood and well received. Just the most amazing thing.

Anyone who still thinks "Homosuck is shit", give it a chance. You'll like it and thank me and all of us on 4chan for showing you such a great comic.

People have differing opinions. Hussie has a complex story going, but the dude is not infallible. He consistently breaks the "Show, don't tell" rule of comic-making, which is something that can be very tedious. In fact, tedium can also be a problem in the way act 1 and act 5.1 are paced.

There's also the fanbase. Shipping is nasty. OC self-inserts are nasty. Retards who can't seem to understand the very basics of the story they love so much are nasty. And while this isn't really the fault of the comic itself, it certainly detracts from the experience.

I'll agree with the mind control thing being overpowered. However, I have a couple points of contention:

First, while she is in contact with an omnipotent being, that being is also using her as a pawn. Doc Scratch also doesn't limit his communication to Vriska - he's spoken to Aradia of his own accord, and Terezi was able to figure out how to contact him.

Second, I have no idea where you came up with the "steal luck" thing.

Third, she does take shit from people. It's pretty well established that most of the other trolls tolerate her antics at best and utterly despise her at worst. She got her arm and eye blown off by Doc Scratch, and also got the shit kicked out of her by Aradia, so so much for being perfect and unbeatable. Without her mind powers she's fairly weak and easy to take out.

The most likely thing I can think of is that one of the kids was is mortal danger, and the others had to get over their shit to save him. I'd say it would probably be John, as he is the closest to any of them.
