Well of course. You watch the show, and all you get is simple humor, adorable ponies, and a basic story and message of the day (friendship is awesome guise!). Not that there's anything wrong with that, I'm simply saying that its basic.

Image macros and fan art. Hundreds of them. It's like a treasure trove of reaction faces and is actually quite enjoyable to boot.

It's the sort of cartoon you'd put on because your little sister (or perhaps daughter but this is /co/ we're talking about) will ask you to put on, you'll watch it with her to keep her supervised and unlike previous generations you can actually appreciate it, the visual jokes and characterisation work across age barriers despite it still being a show about kindness and friendship.

I agree, MLP: Friendship is Magic is basic. The character designs are simple and yet memorable. You will easily remember who everyone is and you can find them adorable. Their personalities are stereotypical of each of their themes, but isn't completely one dimensional; the Pink Pie episode proved this one further as a character we all originally took for being the randumb one actually showed she was capable of more then visual jokes.

The dialogue isn't wooden, it flows pretty naturally between characters to the point you can easily imagine friends talking to each other like that. Further still, they are very expressive visually, when they are annoyed you see it and it has lead to many of the great macros we've seen.

The point is, it's a simple concept done well. It's still My Little Pony in spirit, it still attempts to teach children lessons about friends but it does so while remembering it's a cartoon to amuse you. Characters aren't perfect paragons of their message, they each have flaws they overcome.

So tl;dr it's a basic show done well. I could only wish other shows for young girls could be done in a similar way rather then the usual GRRRL Power or Bratz styles we've seen.

See, the thing about furry art that gets on my nerves isn't the anthropomorphization of my favourite characters or heroes, but rather the fetishes that get attached with them.

It is fair to say however that most furry art I'll see will be the kind used to troll on 4chan, though 4chan isn't my only community. Still, not being part of a furry community I wouldn't know exactly how common or uncommon simple clean crossover art is.

Well for one, it's fairly new and it's not really something adults go out of their way to watch on a awkward channel to naturally view it as well. So basically it's spreading on places like /co/ and a few others by word of mouth.

Mostly they are saying 'Wow... this isn't terrible'.

I mean, it's a cartoon. Unlike the previous generations of My Little Pony it doesn't feel like it was just made to sell toys without having much content, Friendship is Magic is entertaining on it's own with actual visual humour, good dialogue and so on... all while still keeping the spirit of My Little Ponies.

It's not disturbing (unless you want to imagine it is) and it's not /exactly/ fetish fuel, again, unless you want it to be. It's just childish fun that is actually watchable.

Give it a try, maybe try any of the episodes from 3-5, or try from the start, personally I feel the first two episodes give the wrong impression... it's not meant to be a long arching plot and the first episode while fairly good, is mostly introduction of the characters.

Episodes 3-5 which are out so far give a good idea of how it rolls normally.

So, there are several cards I have that remain on the field but cost life points each turn, and several others that restrict summoning monsters, restricts attacking,etc. I would try to stonewall my opponent, all the while increasing HIS LP with the effects of a few of my cards. I'd lose some every turn, too. Whenever the difference hits 7000, bam game over, draw.
Its difficult to do, and they hate it. But its fun precisely because its so difficult to pull off, and its unconventional. I loved how bewildered some players would get when you start increasing their LP, then the dawning horror as they realize they don't have a counter trap in their hand...

Here's my theory on what went/will go down:

Rarity - Didn't meet her true love, since Princess Celestia CAN'T have a nephew. Has to come to terms with real life not living up to her fantasy, maybe meeting a nice, but not super-rich colt from Ponyville in the process.

Rainbow Dash - Did try to upstage the Wonderbolts, and while the audience was fairly impressed with her, the 'bolts didn't appreciate it at all. After learning what she did was kind of a dick move, she gets some words of encouragement from the team captain.

Applejack - Her treats sold reasonably well, but not enough to fix everything she thought it would. She has to decide what to use the money on. After deliberation, she decides to replace Granny Smith's hip.

Fluttershy - Sees some cool animals, but has to learn that hummingbirds can't hum and that buzzards can't buzz.

Pinkie - The Gala has all the party decorations and sweets she dreamed of, but she finds that the gourmet sweets are ludicrously expensive. She has to decide what she wants. Winds up using what money she has to buy some kind of souvenir that she can treasure forever.

Twilight - Being the only pony who DIDN'T pin all her hopes and dreams on the Gala, she dabbles a bit in everything and has a nice time.

All in all the episode would be about dealing with disappointment.
