So apparently Sparkler's hair stripe was given to Twilight then? Interesting.

OMG I recognise that Twilight pony from G1 cartoons! She was the pony that did the teleporting trick in the beginning of "Rescue From Midnight Castle" movie. And when we saw our own Twilight Sparkle do teleportation when she confronted Nightmare Moon, I was so excited like "hey, I remember that one unicorn pony in Midnight Castle doing that trick too". I took Twilight's teleportation as a homage to that G1 unicorn pony. Now I'm even more excited when I realize they were supposed to be the same pony!
Also, I always loved G1 Twilight's design, I thought her hair was awesome.

And that Fluttershy/Posey pic makes suddenly sense too! I had seen it before and had wondered what was up with the wrong cutie mark.
