The Caledscratch had a little turntable on it, remember? Turning that back made the sword go backwards on it's timeline to before Dave broke it, thereby "fixing" it. I'd imagine that it would use up whatever time power is stored in it, meaning he can only keep the whole sword temporarily. Fixing a broken weapon seems to shift a strife specibus the same way breaking a weapon does. Remember when the head came off John's sledgehammer? John's strife specibus switched to handlekind. It switched back to Hammerkind when he put the head back on it. The same could work for Bladekind/1/2 bladekind.

Gamzee is easy to explain. The Magician, who is also called The Juggler, is both energetic and creative, capable of being both spontaneous and introspective. He is closest to being The Fool, without being The Fool.

Depending on the deck, The Magician may actually symbolize someone who is capable of creating [small] miracles--more commonly, The Magician is still fairly inexperienced, naive, but focused on task of some sort with great vitality and exuberance.

In Gamzee's case, he fits The Magician stereotype rather well, considering his general attitude and odd "religion." Out of the trolls, Gamzee is portrayed as the least hostile, often comforting and/or supporting other trolls even when they protest. In other words, he's somewhat naive but all-together capable of channelling his energy in a positive way. He's not The Fool because he understands the value of money and physical possessions.
