John appears to be her closest friend, so if she is going to snap, him being the one to confront her would be pretty emotional. See, the problem with John/Rose is that it's entirely one-sided, if anything. Rose has shown plenty of tells that she's interested, but John is too silly to even consider the possibility. Of course, the same could be said for John/Vriska. And Karkat did flat out tell John that he needed to go board that plane to Smooch City, so now I suppose he's at least cognizant to the idea.

Homestuck has confused me as a person.

I wouldn't call myself a shipper, but I've always just preferred the snarky girl/main hero relationship that seems to never happen. Ichigo/Rukia, Harry/Hermione, that sort of thing.

In Homestuck it was John/Rose, and as expected far more leaned closer to John/Jade, because that's the way it was looking. Then the ectobiology thing came and was assured that John/Rose was set, and I gave a sigh of relief.

Then I realized in Act 5 that I prefer Rose/Kanaya. The dynamic was much more interesting. And then I preferred John/Bluh Bluh Huge Bitch. I grew more confused.

I suddenly realized I'm a shipper now of 13-year-olds, and there's no going back.

But I got over that, and turned to the one true pairing of Karkat/Terezi. It was built well, written well, the characters embraced it and so did the shippers and basically all who read it. It was the relationship writing most writers dream of doing.
