So. A hypothetical.

During Ep9, Kyoko had Sayaka's body. And she was somehow using her Soul Gem to keep it functioning (albeit in a braindead state).

If, somehow, Kyoko's body was removed from the hotel room, leaving only Sayaka's body and Kyoko's Soul Gem, would she be able to use Sayaka's body as though it were her own? If she did it, whose memories would she have: Kyoko's, or Sayaka's?

How much of the Puella Magi is in the Soul Gem, and how much remains in the brain?

Theoretically as long as the Soul Gem is around, whatever happens to the body is inconsequential. I'd imagine the consciousness now inhabiting Sayaka's body would entirely be Kyouko's.

Then here's another question: if you have a girl who has a psychological disorder (clinical depression, &c) based on a chemical imbalance in the brain, could she theoretically cure it like Homura cured her eyes or Sayaka cured her wounds? Or has it been "backed up" to the Soul Gem and made indelible?

If Madoka had lived to be 20, and got to drink booze with her mom, would she have actually gotten drunk?

We don't know about Madoka's universe to know just how far one's personality is "backed up" by the Soul Gem and such. If the girl knows about the actual chemical imbalance itself, not just what it's after effects are, I'd imagine it is possible, but this one of those gray areas really.

I'm sure she'd rather do this.

now I sort of want a freaky friday doujin where they all switch bodies

Depression isn't 100% chemical imbalances; drugs alone will very rarely cure depression.

Madoka, Homu, and Kyouko all look pretty awkward. Sayaka pulls it off the best. Mami looks like a character from Precure or something.

My dick was not ready for this.

Although I think the meguca outfit ought to travel with the soul gem, since it's a manifestation of their magic and all.
>>
>>68072218

The latter doesn't imply the former. The brain is a really complicated interconnection of different systems, drugs can only add a bit of extra chemicals and hope that balances things out.

Of course, trying to bring science into discussion of soul gems doesn't really make much sense, since psychology barely leaves room for a conventional soul to do its thing, let alone the sort of soul you can cram into a soul gem. It's fucking magic.

>>68072425
Part of why I was wondering whether maybe the Soul Gem really only deals with consciousness, rather than memory or any of the other stuff. After all, Kyubey described souls as just being a "bundle of nerves"... although I guess that still leaves room for interpretation as to how much of the brain is involved.
>>
>>68072425
The point is simply that, because depression cannot be fixed in the kind of way that poor eyesight can, it would not be fixable via magic in the same way.

Instead, it would just be magically fixed because magic.

But Kirika changed her personality as wish.
