03/03/11(Thu)13:41 No.46631938>>46631476 Kyouko's death felt unnecessary because, well, it was. Did it save Sayaka? No, but it got rid of her. And a MS's job is to eliminate witches, after all. >Did it KIll Sayaka? As I mentioned before, it probably did. >There's evidence that the witch they fought wasn't the real Sayaka. ...What? Now you're just talking nonsense. >He soul gem looked all nice and clean when it was shown, so I doubt there was an immediate need for her to kill herself to avoid becoming a witch. While that likely is a reason why she suicided, it was obvious that she was also looking for a sort of redemption. I wouldn't so far say that her suicide was self-inflicted punishment right now, but it's been a while. I should really go watch the episode again. Either way, she certainly wanted to see things between her and Sayaka to the end. I'm not even going to touch the shipping possibility of it all.
>I simply see no point to what she did, aside from getting a reaction from fans. That's what deaths do, usually. >Even if it turns out her death deals with Madoka's development, it just means that Kyouko, who spent the past few episodes gaining the audience's sympathy and affection, has no been reduced to a plot device. You don't see a problem with this? Sure her death was a plot device. Mami's death was a plot device. Hell, Sayaka's death is a plot device. But this isn't something that belittles her, or any of them. That's because they themselves are not plot devices. They all existed in this story for a reason, and died for a reason. Kyouko was a character who many of us grew to love. You can't say that that love was unjustified or unfounded just because she isn't here anymore. |
