Also helps if you bring friends, me and a group go to London Comicon for the weekend twice a year and we have a great time shooting the shit with each other, other people, checking out the exhibits etc.

For reference, Mount Whitney is about 14.5 thousand feet tall, and your average hiker (and Felix was only a little bit better off physically than the average hiker) will typically make the climb over three days to allow their body to acclimate to the difference in oxygen amount.

He wasn't going to suffocate, but passing out was a definite risk and they should have seriously adjusted their plan when he started being almost entirely non-responsive during the final jump checklist. Also they seriously fucked up on the visor defogging system.
