I said it before, but the CGI might have been necessary due to all the moving parts of the timber wolves, and the angles that they had to be shown at. There were some pretty dramatic shots, and I would hate everyone forever if I had to draw that many twigs and shit 5 times over in flash when there could just be a model.

I'm telling you right now - only read that book for the principles of timing and spacing. When he starts obsessing over walk cycles and that animating on 1s is the best way to do everything ever, dump it. Your best teacher will be all those golden age cartoons you watched as a kid, particularly the most generic ones. That means Disney and MGM. Why? Because generic is good for study, it's easy to digest.

What I also recommend is that you watch early H-B cartoons (1957-1960) and sakuga animation (money shots) in anime. They have limited animation, but manipulate the few drawings they have to make it look lively and everything, the antic, the take, and so on, is still there. Knowing how to animate the meat and potatoes is a lot more important than knowing how to animate really, really fluidly.

Animating in twos works very well, of course it does. The thing is that TV shows don't have the budget to constantly animate twos. I don't know about flash toons with their tweening, so you'll just have to grow a pair and ask someone on staff/research the production process, since it's different for almost each show.

I say to learn how to animated in the limited sphere first because you don't get tempted to make anything really fancy and fluid and end up creating a mess. Learn to walk before you run, blah blah blah.
