The question I have is, how do we sort out a full show ranking? Dash would have to have gone up, but Rarity would obviously still be at the top.

I did explain my reasoning in my post? S1 was a golden time for Twilight, she was pretty consistently fantastic for the entire season. Rarity and Pinkie are far and away the best ponies in the show throughout its run, and Fluttershy and Dash are too inconsistent to really be ranked highly. Sometimes they're fantastic, sometimes they're total shit.

Applejack just...I love her as a pony, but she's not significant enough to really matter in a ranking.

Not only is she the pony with the most consistent character across all the episodes, irrespective of which writer is handling her, but she also consistently "bucks" trends usually associated with her archetype. She's sassy, strong, brave, and funny, and she regularly sticks to her element while maintaining character consistency. She has some of the funniest moments on the show, and some of the cutest too, and she's the most believable and human character - she's both flawed and fabulous, whether it be in episodes like Sweet and Elite or Green Isn't Your Colour in which she struggles to balance her desires to succeed against her feelings for her friends, or episodes like A Dog and Pony Show in which she's straight-up amazing.

She also has the best voice and the best design.
