Not necessarily just because he's MANLY AS FUCK, but because he was also funny and accommodating on top of that.
It would have been really easy for the writers to just make Iron Will into this massive brute who solves everything though violence, and he certainly proves that he's capable of doing that. But instead he actually started his own business, goes around helping ponies with assertiveness training, puts time and effort into catchy presentations, gives them a money back guarantee, and generally resorts to outright violence LAST, while still proving that he is more than capable of using it, hence, assertive.
Iron Will's defining moment for me was when he ripped all the boards off Fluttershy's cottage with one hand, then politely knocked on her door to ask for his money.
I actually felt bad for him, in a way. He really deserved an explanation for why Fluttershy wasn't satisfied, and he never really got one. And the way Pinkie and Rarity kept calling him a monster. He's not a monster. He's a minotaur manly man living in a girl pony's world. |
