 Twilight glanced around the table, and took a slow, uneasy sip of her tea. She had become intensely aware of the strange looks her friends were giving her, and how odd they all seemed to stare with that same eerie grin. It was making her very uncomfortable.
"Oh, how is it?" Fluttershy asked her politely. "I used my most special tea leaves."
"It's just fine," Twilight Sparkle smiled, hesitantly.
"How about some yummy super-chocolatey cake to go with it?" Pinkie Pie grinned, spontaneously producing a platter with sliced cake, then leaning over the round table to shove it towards the purple unicorn pony. Twilight noticed a small bead of sweat running down her forehead.
"That's... really nice of you, Pinkie."
The girls all smiled unwaveringly at her.
"Twilight, my dear, look at this!" Rarity smiled, fishing something out of her fancy handbag telekinetically. "I know you mentioned wanting to go to the Science and Magic Symposium this weekend, and I just so happened to snag a ticket from one of my generous customers!"
Twilight pushed away from the table, folding her arms and glaring at the other girls suspiciously. "All right, just what is going on here? Why is everybody acting so... funny?"
Applejack waved a hoof dismissively. "Oh, c'mon, Twi'! Don't be so darn suspicious! Why shoot, can't a couple ponies treat their best friend to a nice evening every now and then?"
Twilight stared back at her, unimpressed.
"We're in heat and we need you to put in a good word for us with your brother." the orange earth pony blurted out.
"APPLEJACK!" Rainbow Dash groaned loudly, slumping forward to hit her head on the table. |
