Worst case we were expecting was a terrible alicorn suddenly appearing with no explanation and Twilight suddenly having a brother she had a perfectly normal relationship out of nowhere, even though he'd never been mentioned in the show. Not only did that happen, but for some reason Cadence was Twilight's babysitter, they're both completely bland characters, and SA is some overpowered mary sue captain of the guard, making his complete absence at previous important events even more unbelievable.
