Yeah, but people's expectations are pretty low. Generally if there's something you want to do, put the effort in and you'll be able to do it to a good level. I.e. if you wanted to be a musician, don't expect that you'll ever get to be Pink Floyd or the Beatles, but it's possible to get to a level where you can make decent sounding music, that would impress your family and friends, or even make a living from it.

Same with drawing, you might not ever create pieces that amaze and astound, but put the effort in and you'll get to a place where your art is good, and when you fulfill requests, or come up with original concepts you'll make people happy and they'll enjoy your work.

Also on the whole "some people are talented thing and others aren't" I do feel that a lot of times people really don't give themselves long enough to actually see which category they fall into.

The kind of natural talent, where you can pick up a instrument or a pencil and play something/draw something great having never done it before, is literally a once in a generation thing, maybe even once every few generations.

99.9% of those that are considered great or good started out as shit, it's just how life works, maybe the naturally talented merely started as 'bad' instead of 'shit' but they still had to work their way up.

I dunno, I think Sleepless' biggest weakness is actually his writing, ironically. The characterisation is generally top-notch and some of his sex scenes are... highly memorable.

RS has far less memorable stuff, and I'll admit I've only read but a fraction of his library, but I just can't compete with his experience.
