She was practicing the Sparkleboom at the very beginning of the episode, it's just like when Celestia wanted Rainbow Dash to do it at the wedding; it's just a showy entertainment thing.

I'd say this premiere was pretty good. While it wasn't as well structured as the crystal empire, it was definitely more interesting.

If i could change anything, I'd shorten everything that happened in episode 1. Seemed like a lot of nonsense that didn't need to be. She should have finished her flashback scenes before episode 2 began.

episode 2 should have been entirely ever free forest. they should also have clarified that everfree forest didn't start being evil til the elements were removed.

also more focus on discords flashback would have been nice.

Either all that, or they could have made a third episode.

kinda excited for this season. nonsense ahead but more adventure type episodes than usual it would seem in search of those six keys.

I enjoyed what they were trying to accomplish in this episode. I can understand how people wouldn't like it taken as a stand-alone episode, but I like to think that the premiere had two primary objectives: 1) officially go over some of the world-building and lore that they've only ever talked about and 2) establish the beginning of an overarching plot for S4. In the context of the whole season this was an amazing episode.
