I love fantasy settings where dragons are an everyday thing
Twilight having a dragon assistant is one of the things that got me to watch the show way back when.

I don't know about how they've been handled on the show though. Spike is a bro, but all the other dragons have either been jerks or apparently retarded, and none of them so far have had any sort of majesty.
We haven't seen that many though, and it is a kids show so I can't say I expected different or expect differently in the future.

Eragon wasn't really that bad. Like all young adult fiction that makes it big, people that don't really read much end up loving it because it appeals to their interests and the general opinion ends up being that its a lot better than it is, so when people realize it isn't as good as they thought or other people told them it would be their opinion of it lowers.
It was a simple, fun wish fulfillment story that did everything it should have.

I never did get around to reading the sequels though.

The pern books are strange in a lot of ways, but if you go into them knowing what to expect they can be really good. You have to intentionally look past some flaws, because McCaffrey is kind of a crazy bitch, but she has a really original setting and isn't incapable of writing characters and plots.

Dragon mating happens in the books, and canonically the riders of those two dragons tend to end up shacking up, regardless of personal taste in the matter.
Dragons also canonically select their riders based on gender and sexual preference, with blues for example tending to impress homosexuals or bisexuals.
They are weird books sometimes.
This was the book that got me into the genre, years ago.

Nothing related to those characters.
Its part of a series called Magic Shop Books, all kids books about that magic shop he bought the egg from, and the kids that just happen to stumble in and buy the thing they need to learn important life lessons.

I never read any of the other ones, but that book was my favorite for way longer than was age appropriate.
The ending where he has to give back, only for her to appear in his dreams so they could fly together again absolutely blew my little mind.

There was a scene where a boy and a girl cut open a dead dragon and skywalker themselves from the cold, and I think it implied they had sex.
