But in these circumstances, Celestia was absolutely a better choice; they have limited time to recover the crown, she can't pull Twilight out of the fire if she fails, and there's plenty of support for Equestria in case Celestia doesn't make it back in time.

So the problem here is that they needed a better way to FORCE the issue of Twilight going alone; let Sunset Shimmer tackle her into the mirror or something.
