Okay so.
Equestria Girls.
Didn't really like how the whole beginning of the movie was basically pushing "NO TWILIGHT NEEDS TO GO ALL ALONE" over and over.
The pacing of where the song bits were placed was awkward as fuck. There was this big singing moment in the cafeteria, and less than 5 minutes after, another one in the gymnasium. Prior to that there was just a big stretch of uninterrupted story.
Sunset Shimmer was okay. It would have been nice if her backstory was fleshed out more, maybe with some flashbacks to her days studying under Celestia's wing. Instead we just have her in ALPHA SUPERBITCH mode the whole movie, and then she turns into a monster, and then she's curled up and crying in a middle of a crater.
Of the main six, Dash looks the cutest as human. But overall, Trixie looks the best. It's the hoodie.
Flash Sentry was as flat as a board. All we learn about him is that he Sunset's ex, plays guitar, and has a crush on Twilight. That's his whole character. And we won't see more of him as a pony either. (Though I will admit, the best part about him was seeing Twaifufags pissing rivers of blood every time he graced the screen.)
The final 15 minutes were solid, though the whole climax could've been a lot more awesome. Maybe with some big rift opening up within the mirror and suddenly have both universes intertwined, and the human 5 meet their pony counterparts, or something, I dunno.
Short version: the movie felt as if there could've been much more done with it to make it exciting and memorable, but it didn't in favor of being a High School Musical clone. But for what it is, it's decent enough.

I wish a lot of the parts were more fleshed out, but it would have come at the expense of the songs(which i would have been ok with.) I did think it was clever how they used the songs to move the plot along at an acceptable pace covering a lot of ground in a way that wasnt too jarring.

I liked the idea of her friends having messed up cutie marks, and her having to fix them by showing them how they meant to her and eachother. Granted this would take more than just a two parter, but i think it would have been cool to see more of the effects of this, and the consequences of it happening. Her friends had to have been miserable the entire time this was happening and it would have been interesting to see how they handeled it.

The movie is about MLP, and there's alt-universe counterparts for everyone, so of course there's gonna be a pony version of him. That still doesn't change that this was a production aimed at tweens.
Just because the intro and outro involve ponies doesn't suddenly mean it's for little girls again. It's all part of the whole deal, and the whole deal was a laundry-list of tween tropes.
