02/09/12(Thu)11:15 No.34123002>>34122835 And another thing. I am proud of the idea of bronies, I really am. It's never surprising to see a woman who likes men's things, and finally we have something similar to that. But I come here, and I see these threads, and I think to myself "I thought Bronies were about getting rid of labels, or being exclusionary. I thought they were supposed to be tolerant." The exact nature of this problem is too long to go into (though I did once before and it was a very large thread) but it basically comes down to this: this fanbase is full of people from the Naruto boards, or the Sonic forums, or the tween fiction fanfiction sites. These "fans" take something new so they can suck all the originality out of it, completely remove it from its context and slap something THEY are familiar onto it with so that the end result is nearly unrecognizable from the original. Look at Nyx. Right now. What the hell is it? It's a type of self insert. "Yeah my little pony is good, but I think it needs a snarky loli version of Luna (or nightmare moon I don't even know) to be involved with EVERY character, loved by all, and probably seduce everybody. That is what this fandom needs." Do you see how this causes problems, or are you the type of person saving the pictures as they get posted? |
