>>33790882 Yeah, but that wasn't the question. The question was why her character doesn't have the development the others do, and as soon as them? Before Season 1 was even half-way through, Apple Bloom had her family relations sorted out, her personal struggles, and character traits laid out. That's explainable by her focus was Lauren's idea at first...
But then by Season 1 we've already got that for Sweetie Belle too, and she didn't even show up until past the half-way point. There was still wrap-up with her sister in Season 2, but Scootaloo has only gotten hints. She's rude, she's obsessed with Rainbow Dash for being Rainbow Dash, and has a kick scooter. I suppose that's enough for character emotion-wise, but while Applebloom and Sweetie Belle have been shown since Season 1 WHY they act the way they do, Scootaloo hasn't. We've come up with our own too-hot-for-tv reasons. (She's homeless, she's in an abusive or broken household, she can't fly because stubby wings and she compensates, Rainbow Dash is a horrible Role Model.) but that just elevates the problem further. There's really only two options open. Either Scootaloo has major baggage to sort out, which would be difficult to do in a show about colorful ponies, or the writers never had any idea what to do with her from the start, and this episode's just sort a token new 'problem' so they can go "See? She's relevant! Let's talk about Applebloom more." |
