 The episode is about Hitler and the rise of Nazi Germany
Fluttershy is woken before dawn in order to ensure they recieve some precious commodoties, the cider. This relates to Post WW1 Germany and the food shortages and suffering of the populace
Upon arriving however, a tent line is erected, where Pinkie Pie is the first tent, brightly coloured and filled with balloons. She pays for an exorbitant amount of cider. This shows the people Hitler sought to wipe out with the final solution, that being the gypies (the tents) homosexuals (the flamboyant colours/display) and the Jews (all dat money)
Rainbow Dash is in the role of the people, she percieves these minority groups taking away a dispraportionate share of the commodoties, while she must eat dirt.
In rolls the Flim-Flam brothers, they are analouges of Hitler. With a catchy tune and great public speaking skills, they rile the population into believing their way of thinking, and are hailed as heroes, the pair that will solve all their problems.
Of particular note, their steam powered car/train vehicle. Hitler used air travel extensivley in the 1933 Germanic election, the most advanced method of travel invented, much as we see here.
Also, Hitler pioneered the Autobahn, the modern highway, and these brothers are the only ones thus seen driving a car.
Ultimatley the issue comes down to Cider (Cider...it's kinda like juice. A loose allegory for Jews) and the coalition of Allied powers (friendship) beatig the Axis of evil, and cheap cider. DEEP |
