I finally got around to watching some season 2 episodes, and I am concerned by the immoral lessons they seem to be teaching.
SWEET AND ELITE: Rarity lies, constantly and continuely, but never receives any comeuppance. If given the choice to do it all again, no doubt she would; the results, while tiresome, were nothing but positive for her.
HEARTHS WARMING EVE: Introduces deism to MLP. I always believed the ponies were nice to each other because they're simply nice as a species, but no. Just like humans, the only reason they are good is the promise of rewward, and threat of punishment. If the three races are nice, powerful beings up above give them a land of milk and honey. If the ponies act mean, powerful beings punish them. That's... very disappointing, actually. Like religious humans, they're only acting good because it's profitable to them, not because it's simply the right thing to do.
FAMILY APPRECIATION DAY: Their are obscenely rich ponies in the MLP world. Capitalism rules, and the richest pony got all his wealth by inheriting it, not from hard work and honest labor. That's sad. It also reminds you that the wealthy are such because of their genes, not because they're honest folk working tirelesly on an apple farm.
BABY CAKES: Like Rarity's episode, Pinki Pie makes the wrong decision, accpeting responsibility she can't cope with... but at the end of the episode, the lesson is ignored, and she intends to do it all again.
I haven't seen the latest episode with Derpy yet, but... well, let's just say I'm not anxious to see a beloved character changed from being *adorably dim* to being pants-on-head retarded. PIC RELATED. |
