Pessimist's default is glum. You have your expectations dashed less often, yes, but the net reward of pleasure gained vs sadness gained is still in the favor of the optimist.
Of course, you'd disagree thought, because I'm optimistic about expecting the best when optimistic, and you are pessimistic about expecting the worst for optimists!
