You've got your casual fans - they're enthusiastic but still a little reserved. They're excited to be there and watch it but they don't go out of their way to draw attention to themselves - they're just in it to enjoy themselves. We laugh at the memes, we occasionally post in the threads, but we don't overdo it.
Then you've got the bronies - these are the guys who dress up in team swag, they cheer, they shout, they drink too much and get way to into it, but they're tolerable and in a way they're a part of the experience.
... and then there's THAT guy.
At a football game he's the half naked guy with the beer belly, covered in body paint, screaming his lungs out, getting in everyone's face, spitting half eaten sunflower seeds into your hair, and broadcasting to the world as belligerenty as possible what a colossal asshole of a superfan he is. With MLP these guys are to bronies what bronies are to regular people - they're the guys who take it beyond too far, who've read every fic, bought every girl's toy, fap off to pony porn, and start jonesing if they have to go more than a week without an episode.
Like at a football game, these guys aren't representative of the rest of the fans... but they are the most vocal, and they are the one's who leave the biggest impression. |
