The whole scene with Derpy was planned before she even became a thing, they admitted they had a clumsy pony who'd appear in a later episode.

They were still probably calling her Ditzy Doo at this point.

Then the whole fandom happened and suddenly Derpy. So they went back and made some quick changes to script and that pony's coloring.

Just think. Enough high-end audio-visual equipment for her to just step into the DJ booth, plug a hoof into the controls, and run the entire party with her mind.
