My perception of Big Mac comes from his lines in Applebuck Season and his short appearances in Lesson Zero and Winter Wrap-up. Applebuck Season shows him as calm and reasonable in the face of his sister's aggressive stubbornness, but also a willingness to let her try if she wants. He also knows she'll try regardless, and isn't really in any condition to stop her, but the fact that he didn't go for help against her will shows respect for her wishes.
In Winter Wrap-Up, he was willing to get between Caramel (who had already beaten himself up over losing the seeds) and his sister, who we all know can be kind of abrasive at time. Lesson Zero even added a bit to him as a character, because he was willing to take a toy from children simply because somebody he knew was trustworthy asked him to. He didn't even ask any further questions, just walked over and grabbed it. And before anybody brings up the spell, his eyes were normal when he agreed to do it. Couple that with his ability to knock people over the horizon, and I see a guy who's afraid of his own strength and worried he's going to hurt somepony, so he stays as calm and gentle as he can. |
