First of all, welcome bro, second, let me give you a quick rundown on events. First and foremost, the "founder" of the community, /co/, where it all began. People who were part of this community had the classic 4chan mindset to begin with, somewhat cruel humor and the "lonely basement dweller" stereotype and its variants. The show and the small community revolving around it was pleasant and new to most, and even though there was a minor amount of shitposting and trolls, people enjoyed their own small community. Then, around January, another branch of it developed, due to someone starting a thread on /b/, out of trolling or plain fucking around. The thread grew quickly and obtained a large popularity within a small circle of /b/ frequenters, and another branch of the fandom, completely separate from /co/ was created. Eventually, it lead to differences between the two "factions", /co/ being more about the show itself and the 4chan-ish community, whereas /b/ spread new motives and had an entirely different take on the community, in which did not focus on the content, but rather the members posting it. Due to disapproval of others and mod attacks, /co/ shortly after got the remaining side of the flank, which pretty much resulted in /co/ and /b/ hating the everliving shit out of each other. Meanwhile, though it was not popular at the time, Orange Thorn or fuck knows what was his name back then, created a /b2/ to avoid the trolling and bans, and attempted to migrate everyone there, without success. He named it Ponychan, and even though it wasn't popular at first, it quickly grew on and took up the motives developed originally by /b/ as a countertroll. Then, /b/ over the course of time became the essentially the same as ponychan, with less intelligent and more loving posts. |
