Well of course the proportions are impossible, it's a cartoon character. Most cartoon designs aren't necessarily anatomically correct, but still have dimension because it is entirely possible for their simplified forms that make up the mass of the character are themselves three-dimensional and can be turned in space. That, along with principles of motion and basic ideas of what the body does when it stretches, folds, etc, gives the design weight. Not anatomy. I honestly don't know where this sensibility came from, that cartoons suddenly need to look as boring as we do. |
