Maybe I can balance it. See, disaster is a fascinating subject of study. One of the reasons you have fire drills is because people tend to lose themselves when something horrible happens or is coming. Not that they freeze, which happens, but that they'll actually just stay put and trying to process everything if they don't have a plan. Good horror plays on this temporary helplessness, often mixing up the scares every time so the subject of the affair never has the ability to acclimate and make decisions that would help them.
People do rarely respond to a panicky situation by panicking. When a building is on fire, or even if two planes collide with each other on the runway, the result is usually that people remain lucid or even somewhat nonfunctional. A common reaction is to contact friends or family to explain what just happened, then take action afterward.
I just can't help but love a good horror story. Not that there isn't a ton of potential for jokes in this fic. Just thought I might do something a little different this time around. |
