Wow, you two really don't know what autism is.
(Not all autists have all of the following, and with structured training and practice, most can be overcome:) - sensory issues: too much reality, not enough filtering - language issues: lacking the instincts to handle the dual channels of spoken language (logical and emotional). - motor control: lacking the instincts of fluid movement and kinesthetics/proprioception; can lead to body dysphoria ("otherkin", transgendered, furry) - emotional issues: lacking the instincts to deal with disappointments, successes, fears, or frustrations - social issues: -- emotional unawareness: lacking a conceptual and practical understanding of emotions -- communication unawareness: oblivious to the communication embedded in body posture, gestures, facial expressions, tone and volume of voice, etc. -- faceblindness: unable to recognize other people by their faces -- social structure unawareness: basic concepts such as the difference between peers and boss/employee, teacher/student, parent/child relationships -- theory of mind: the practical understanding that people are different than you, and are to be approached as another person, not an extension of you. |
