You said they follow a government run by demi-Gods and they can use magic in every day life.
The ability to use magic frees up a massive part of life and survival, especially for a species that has no opposable thumbs. For example, a pony that can magically raise a piece of matter several feet into the air is capable of doing things a humanoid couldn't do, like not risk bodily harm with physical acts. And spells that can harvest a profuse amount of food with little to no effort, plus magics limitless potential of multiplying and enhancing said materials and resources, if not the simple act of replication frees the general population with the need of wanting things. That's freedom from want.
Freedom from fear follow the same principle, magic protecting ponys themselves from external forces, and having two demi-Gods govern and protect them, not to mention the peace of mind having such powers look over them allows them to go about daily life without the need to fear of any unknown danger threatening their very way of life. That's freedom from fear.
Freedom of speech and faith is easy enough to understand, able to speak your mind with benevolent powers and able to pray and recognize said powers, and to bolster said faith to fellow ponys and yourself.
You said this kind of society run by Gods and magic disrupts any economic theory, and I say because it doesn't have the two necessary motivators for current economy's to function: Want and fear. I would wager it;s closest to a low level Communist system, that's in use when it needs to be, since ponys have achieved species wide unification and harmony |
