It's only a game, so interpreting it with such concrete rigidity and attesting to any decision whatsoever "mattering" is more a sociological pursuit rather than any with lasting relevance, but nonetheless, I feel that that completely misses the point of the Messiah ending. You are an instrument of God's will. You give up free will, and therefore you don't have that choice, to destroy here and preserve there with surgical precision. You are God's reckoning against his enemies, and unfortunately, humanity becomes mostly the enemy. It's a wolf in sheep's clothing - it looks comparatively good, but in essence, it's as far from it as is possible to get. Ultimately it's the most stereotypically "evil" route in the game, even compared to the Chaos route, and that's why I stayed the hell away from it. |
