This turned out better than expected. Was not expecting much to be fair but I think if I work on the eyes and mouth I wont want to shoot it to put it out of its misery anymore.

Alright, first of all, layer 1.5.
Using the eraser tool, right click to use the color replace function that will replace the foreground color selected with the background color selected, enjoy your easy construction.
You can also press (ctrl)+(numpad+) to increase brush and eraser sizes, to color replace on larger levels faster.

Also, use the smallest square brush if you're going for cleaner stuff, but use the pencil for sketchier style
