I mean, I thought Dash's character and Rarity's character were both great, and portrayed superbly, but, you know, Pinkie's Puddinghead stole the show. Nonetheless I won't be surprised if people attack the episode on the basis of "wacky, zany randomness", it seems to be an oft-cited show criticism. Especially in S2.
>>32457055 To me, it seemed less a madness and more a frivolity. Lady Macbeth is tragic madness, and and...well, I can't actually think of any examples of comic madness off the top of my head, seeing as I've been in a tragedian's mood lately, but I'm sure I'll come up with one. Maybe if you'll allow me a little leeway under the label of legitimate theatre, then Elphaba could be considered comic madness? Or Gary Coleman, heh. Anyway, you know, she just seemed to be all over the place. I loved it, though. Very good. Reminiscent of King Lear, to me. |
