the show grew weary on me

I liked everything from first two episodes,especially bittersweet/sad moment at the end. Follow up series just extended it a bit but with s02 most of the things got "ruined". Retarded worldbuilding, new dumb alicrons, Discords and whatnot... Equestria's universe was consistent before, I loved it while it lasted, I loved the "swift and lightweight" fairytale oh well...

Saddest part is that there is no alternative.
Similar by its awesomeness show won't happen soon again.

I always thought it was a matter of pony ignorance really. Nature and weather work there the same it does here. Ponies just use magic to manipulate both. So in areas of high pony populations weather and nature are just so heavily controlled that the ponies assume their intervention is a necessity.

Its like this rivers naturally flood and deposit silt on the land which it makes it fertile. But someone builds a damn for an unrelated reason. Now the land isn't nearly as fertile. So you manually flood the damn to stimulate and control the natural events that were to your advantage. Ponies have been using magical "dams" on weather and nature for so long that they have confused their convenience with the natural order. They don't seem to understand that if they didn't schedule the rain or force the birds to migrate that those things would happen on their own, just in a more chaotic fashion.

After much deliberation, the girls have a meeting to discuss what to do with the imprisoned Discord.

Pinkie (being sympathetic to his cause) and Fluttershy (being sympathetic to everyone) both think an indefinite imprisonment in stone is too harsh. Twilight gets to thinking too much about what an eternity trapped in solid stone would be like and it troubles her so deeply she agrees as well. Applejack has no love for the petrified despot but when pressed reluctantly admits that everyone deserves a second chance. Rarity holds out but appeals to her generosity lead her to recommend an alternate punishment. Only Rainbow Dash refuses to agree in the commutation of his sentence.

Spurred by Pinkie's insistence, the issue has really gotten under Twilight's skin so she brings it to the attention of the Princess. The Princess hears her out, and magnanimously agrees on alternate punishment.

She gives in to Twilight's appeal: Discord will be released, but with severely crippled powers and in a much weaker form.
But he's remanded to Twilight's care.
