It's the fact that people absolutely MUST make their knee-jerk reaction to it known like they're reporting some sort of morality police rather than scrolling over it, which really ends up being a downer for everyone else. People want to make it known that they want to divert the subject, but then do jack-shit about it and complain like worthwhile discussion is something that can be forcefully implemented, or can be done out of spite of less relevant topics. But it can't. It's something that, to work effectively, must flow reasonably into the course of discussion rather than abruptly dam it, and more often than not it's just a matter of luck if the discussion catches on. |
