You woke up long before she did, and you've spent the meantime watching her sleep, watching her breathe. Eventually she cracks open a single eye, just for a second, then moans into her pillow. Her hoof comes up to rub the sleep out of both eyes at once. A few stray pink hairs from her mane get stuck in her eyelashes, and you gently pull them away so as not to damage your view.
"Morning," she says, still not opening her eyes all the way. She offers a weak smile and scoots closer to you on the bed. Your legs intertwine under the covers, and she sighs, content.
You tell her that the sun is out, that you can hear her animals wandering around outside and in other rooms of the cottage. You ask if she needs to get up. She reacts by biting her lip, opening one eye all the way, rubbing your chest, and saying, "Not yet." |
