Each of them is a consummate power player and a fantastic egotist, each undone by who they're up against.
Zola was a fiendish and clever agent, except that the people she's up against are all sparks or posthumans.
Gilderoy was great at memory modification, writing, and acting the egotist. He got really scary at the end of his character arc, revealing that he's gotten the drop on better wizards and erased parts of their minds, and he only lost to the wand of a wizard too poor to get a new one.
Trixie managed to get rumors of her power started before her show even began. She has illusion-creating powers, and skillful telekinesis. Most importantly, like Zola and Gilderoy, she had the imagination, tenacity, and cleverness to turn her relatively weak abilities into a force to be reckoned with. She lost to a giant star bear, this is true, but who knows what she could have done to the relatively naive and straightforward Twilight Sparkle? She might even have made a foal of her in an unfair way. |
