11/29/11(Tue)23:24 No.31864470Awhile back, one of the storyboard artists (Sibsy, I think?) mentioned that part of the script for Call of the Cutie called for AB to be writing some stuff during her class, and as a result had to come up with the gag of "Ponies write stuff by manipulating a pencil with their mouth, similar to quadriplegics". From that, I've wonder about two things:
One, how serious is the worldbuilding aspect of the show, behind-the-scenes? I know that the train of thought of "Whatever is convenient for the story they're writing" dominates, so suddenly Ponyville could be next to an ocean, or, apparently, hydroelectric dam, if they wanted to, but I wonder how much consistency they try to maintain. I know that they've generally resorted to mouths for non-PK dextrous manipulation of objects, but then you suddenly have peanut butter jars that are* clearly not designed for Ponies to open with. I know that was a pretty good scene, and we got a new 'background' character that had more than one line out of it, but seeing shit like bowling balls, screwable lids, and levers that are clearly meant to be grasped can be a mild irritant at times. |
